A big postcard fan here, and I will often look on ebay to see if there are any old postcards going cheaply, but the price in the auction rooms has risen steeply over the last year, and where you could pick them up realtively cheaply, thats no longer an option nowadays. The large card collections are fetching hundreds of pounds, and the old picture ones showing places of yesteryear are highly sought after now.I have been to the auction houses to try to bid for some, but with no luckj. The other cards that are very interesting are the world war two silk cards, they were sent from our servicemen to home from abroad, and although they will fetch in the region of ten to fifteen pounds each, some maybe more, they are a good investment,as they will neve rbe made again.I have one album of old cards in my home,I had more, but I decided that once I had my good look through them, and had read the messages that were written on the back I was happyt to take a few of my favourites and auction the rest off.

Me too I had this hobby when I was a kid like you, I remember that every time I went abroad I always bought a lot of postcards of the towns I visited.
I have other hobbies now, my favourite are drawing and painting, and when I have a little of time I always take my beloved pencil and start drawing. Other hobbies are playing chess (but it takes too time and I have a little son now, so I have no time to play chess) and walking in the fields.

I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, collecting postcards, magnets as well as doing jigsaw and word search puzzles.Right now, I have a postcard project here at MyLot where I'm asking folks here to send a postcard or more from their part of the world; So far, I have had a couple of folks to respond. Perhaps you can join in as well.

I used to collect stamps as a kid. I think I still have 4 stamp albums stashed somewhere. Collecting stamps used to make me wonder about the world out there. The distances the stamp had travelled to end up in my hand. The birds and local flora and fauna featured in the stamps.
When I grew older, I stopped collecting and started travelling. After my work brought me to so many places I started living those experiences instead of vicariously experiencing them through stamps. so in a way stamp collecting lost its novelty for me. But a remnant of that in my life is that I still prefer to use colourful stamps when I send letters than those that are churned out electronically by a machine. those are uglier and definitely have less character.
