Do you prefer starting new discussions...

Or do you go and search Mylot or the zero response listings for the discussions of others on similar subjects to join in and respond to those first?
Which do you think is more worthwhile? Would you search for keywords for your preferred interests before beginning a new discussion?
Thanks for responses!

Starting a new discussion is less time consuming in terms of not having to make the effort to look for the appropriate discussion threads/keywords etc. However, it does cost sometime (over which you don't have any control) because you have to wait for others to answer. And you can't always ensure that the responses you get are comprehensive and adequately address the question.
However, because you are formulating the question yourself.. it might be possible to control the responses you are going to get.
Personally, I find it more worthwhile to search for topics/older discussions. However, if I have to discuss something that I am quite sure no one else would have discusses then I start a new thread

I'd do both..searching for interesting zero response discussions, and starting my own ones..Over my time on Mylot,I've found that sometimes,no matter how clearly I've tried to explain my discussion subject, some people make responses that don't even address the subject!
