What do you prefer: marriage or living together without the paperwork?

Either way, a commitment is a commitment, right? You both could still have rings etc. but what do you prefer? I prefer the paper, because it tells me I have the same rights. So why is our government keeping that away from the ones who want the same right?!

I don't know what is better. I suppose it is up to the couple to make the decision. It is not really my call to make and my views are totally irrelevant to the issue. Right now, I am more focused on trying to make money. I should make more money but i am not and I keep buying a lottery ticket. Cheers!!

I dont know what its like here in the U.S but in Ontario Canada once you've been living together for X amount of months (less if you have a child together) the your rights arent that much different to if you were legally married...
to answer your question though, either way is fine with me....I am currently married but lived common law with my husband for a few yrs and the entire time I was with my two older kids father...

like you, i'd rather have the paper.
1. there is a level of commitment t the relationship and i won't just call it quits when it's getting rough
2. yes, i'd have some level of rights =)
