I cant sleep...

Its almost a month now and i find it so hard to sleep at night everyday. i can only sleep an hour every night which makes me feel every tired during the day. Do you have similar problem like this? What did you do if you cant sleep at night?

Goodness me Margarit, an hour every night is not good at all! I've been a short-term sleeper for as long as I can remember, but I do average around 5 - 6 hours most nights. All I can suggest is that you try to relax yourself as much as possible when getting ready to go to bed. No stimulants like tea, coffee or soda; no exciting movies or music and things like that and try and make your surrounding environment as quiet and dark as possible. The issue for me personally has been that my mind won't switch off, so what I've been doing is watching movies in bed on my laptop. Nine times out of ten I'll fall asleep before the movie ends and my mind is occupied before I drift off. A cup of Chamomile Tea an hour or so before bed can help too. And there's also a herbal remedy called St John's Wort that you can buy in capsule form from health stores and chemists that might be of benefit as it can relax you.

Thank you for the BR Margarit! Did you ever end up getting any St John's Wort? If so, I'd be interested to hear of you used it and if it worked for you?

I used to have that problem every night, I really can't sleep and I have to wake up so early especially when my kids are going to school. When my kids have their vacation I had the chance to relax and I was able to sleep well at night, but by next week, they will be starting to have their classes, so I guess I am going to have those nights where I would not be able to have a sound sleep.

Well I'm different from all the people in the world.Just as you are saying you can't sleep,I sleep for more than 10 hours a day . My advice{take the good part,if you think its bad leave it} So, my advice is dont get depressed by day to day life problems.The only thing between you and sleep is the tensions surrounding your mind. So, no tension= nice sleep. I really dont take tension even if someone is coming to kill me. Just relax and see how beautifully things workout.

That is a very bad problem. I would not be able to do that. I like sleeping and sleep is one of the best times for me. Cheers!!

Hey margarit, Thats bad for your health. You need to sleep at least 5 hours a day(for adults). You should know the reason why you cant sleep, maybe somethings bothering you, and do something about it. Try to read a boring book so that you will feel sleepy. Try to excercise, see if it works... If not you should see a doctor.

Hi anin, Thanks for the concern, i think i can sleep more than a hour now, much better than the previous month. you are partly right, there should be a reason behind why do i suffer sleepless night, i think it is due to my bad habit of watching t.v dramas in wee hours.

I have a similar problem. I wake up in the morning feeling really tired and say to myself "I will go to bed early tonight" and then all through the day I feel tired and then it gets to the evening and i feel wide awake and even if i try to sleep i just cant. The heat at the moment doesnt help either. I usually just stay awake online till i feel tired, or lay in total darkness and try and think about something boring
