Help in my BenQ DVD Combo Drive please

I have this BenQ Combo Drive which I just transferred to another CPU. It was working on my previous one but I decided to move it since my other one would not boot up and I need to watch the Sample Indie films given to me soon. The drive could read CDs but not DVDs. I have tried updating the driver and even downloading a new one, and have downloaded and installed various software like Nero Showtime, PowerDVD, and GOM Player but it still won't work. Do you have any idea or suggestion in troubleshooting?

Have you tried playing DVD in your other desktop before you made a swap? What does it says when you try to play a DVD? I need to know some details for us to start troubleshooting. I hope I can help you out.

Thanks very much for the response. Yes,I have tried it and it is working properly before I made the swap. In my previous desktop the autoplay would just function and the inserted DVD would play automatically in my Nero Showtime player. I used the same Nero CD Installer but it does not work.

I have tried that already but the drive reads empty if a DVD is loaded. It's as if the DVD is not loaded.

What type of OS are you using? MAybe it needs to install/update codec files to play dvds. you can try some freeware at http://www.free-codecs.com/

Hi, I have just tried installing k-lite codec but it still doesn't work even after I restarted my PC.. I have tried both DVD-R and DVD+R in my drive but again, it still can't read it. Do you think the problem's related to the hardware? or do you have any other suggestions in troubleshooting.. Thanks very much for you replies.
