I have been thinking recently about what defines me as a person. Is it the number of kids I have and how I parent them, it is what I do outside my family? My question to each Mylotter is what defines you?

In other-words you are asking what others think of you, this has two levels of subjective opinion. What people at home think of you, (this depends on how successful you are in your social role play) and the outside world, your friends and colleagues. There is saying which goes like this " to know about others is being learned but to know about thyself is wisdom". As an individual I'm more defined by my behaviour with people and how I interact with the society as a whole, as a person I'm represented more by what others think of me rather then what I think of myself.

Hmm...thought provoking question buddy.
I guess my family and my friends (the family we choose for ourselves) defines who I am. What kind of person I am. Other than that I got no identity now. I am not an artist, writer or a philosopher or anything by profession that defines my thoughts and myself so for a simple person like me it's the people I am connected with defines me the best :) Thank you!

I actually had a pondering session about this same topic a while ago and concluded that the thing that defines me is music. Music is omnipresent in my life and people can usually tell what mood I am in and how to interact with me based on what is playing on my iPod at that moment.
Everywhere I go, music follows me. I tend to express myself by speaking in song lyrics. I love to sing. I hear potential tunes in everything I do and in everything I hear.
Today a printer at work had an excellent drum solo. I listened and enjoyed!
