Does your child go to a daycare or a preschool. I have determined with today's standards that most daycares are preschool but you still want to check first. Daycares basically babysit your child as he or she interacts with the other children. Pre-schools will have a school like setting with learning time. There are devoted times and learning materials used at pre-school. Some daycares don't offer this. Which setting does your child go to and what has your child learned.

Our children go to a daycare provider. They are not just a number like in a daycare center and get more attention. I perfer this situation, plus the cost is less than a daycare center or preschool. During the summer, the provider does provide educational activities for the kids and they are a step up when they start back.

So they go to school until summer and then they go to a summer daycare where they can play? It's good they get attention but it sounds like they are learning during the summer. Daycares seem to be more play than learning so I wanted to know which one kids went to year round or just in the summer. I wanted to hear differences. I am glad you shared your experience.

my 3 year old goes to a preschool as daycares in the philippines are overcrowded with children. i've been a teacher once and i do know that adequate no. of students per preschool (and even any class at any level) makes a lot of difference on the students' concentration, socialization and most importantly on the teacher's ability to teach each and everyone of the students. not to mention the ease this brings to a teacher when it comes to discipline. this is very much needed to help the teacher control any personal temper due to stress of having (too many) students to teach .

I don't have children but I thought I would mention that some schools here have started adding a pre-K for 4 year olds who are ready to start school so they can get a jump on learning instead of hanging out in daycare. I think this is a good thing since at some schools little kids are learning to use the computer very early.
