How do you feel when your reputation/rating is reduced?

I have seen a discussion started by our colleague mylotter saying her/his rating was reduced recently. I was a member since more than 3 years and after a gap of 3 years I have once again started. My reputation/rating before start of my second session was more than 2 and now I am reduced to 2 within a week. Why this so. From my side I give a positive rating and if do not like it I leave it blank. That means the negative will be taken care of by not giving positives. I do not find any reason for a negative for any discussion. But it is up to the members to decide. I have seen many participants are without ratings. This system should be changed immediately. Rating to be according to their volume of participation in the discussions + addition for their value of participation. It should not be in the hands of some. Please respond.

How does someone get rated? What does a rating mean? I am new to this site so i'm not sure exactly how things work....Does a bad rating meant that you aren't contributing enough? Do you get a better rating by respondign to already posted discussions oor by startign your own discussion?

First, don't worry about your rating. Enjoy fully with your active participation. Rating is such how best you present yourselves through discussions - posting or reply. If they are non-controversial in nature you will be rated normally otherwise you may be given (+) or (-) depending on your taking the issue and replying there to. You find '+ - !' symbols after your post or discussion or a reply. You have to tick on one depending on your interest. You will be knowing more in future. For now have a great.
