I would love to hear success and horror stories from people who have bought website's. It's something I quite fancy the idea of but don't know if it would actually work. In scouring the internet for things to do with the new puppies I'm getting shortly, I've gone on loads of sites and then on ebay I came across a website for sale. It's $99 which is around £63. It's free afterwards and claims to be self sustaining.
What do you reckon?

in my personal opinion if it was that easy everyone would be doing it,
the only problem with buying web-sites are it will prob just be a free template that you would be able to download on the web anyhow.
Also how can a site be self sustaining if your referral links aint included in the site ??
I would stay well clear and build yourself your own web-site using one of the various free web site builders out there.
Also you will need hosting I assume the ebay web site wont have hosting included.

I honestly don't know the first thing about owning - or designing a website. It is through a free hosting site which is why it's free. I didn't know you could even build your own website...if anyone would like to fill me in on how I could do this it sounds a good idea.

I suppose it is legit, as you will be the owner of the website, however, that it's self-sustaining is questionable. If it were, I wouldn't sell it. I think like everything else it's a matter of being able to promote it and have a lot of traffic to the site. Nothing is that easy ( Even though we sure wish it was). Good luck with it.

Okay buying a premade site on ebay is a legit way of doing things, but I don't recommend you doing it. The reason why is that without the knowledge of how you built the site you will find it difficult to manage it properly. Plus it may not be a profitable site with a poor domain name so you would need to do a lot of research and see stats for the site before commiting to it.
In my opinion you would be better off investing some time in learning about blogging and then you can build up your own blog for less than the cost of a premade site. The benefit of which is that although you wont start earning money straight away you will learn how to build a profitable blog and so be able to implement what you learnt again by creating a second blog with less hassle if you wished to.

I don't know what the vendor meant by self sustaining but in order for your website to be popular and in turn make money, you have to put in the time and the effort. I do think that making your own website is the way to go. I made my own website my self. You can check it out through a link on my profile page. Its a just a site for my blogs and I purposely made it simple so it will load fast. There are actually lots of webhosts with free website builders if you subscribe with them. You can pm me for webhosts that are cheap and offer good service.
Good luck and have a good one.
