Hello ...
I'm a heavy smoker ... smoke 2 packets every day ...
recently I started to have sever shortness of breath whenever I start to do any exercise ... even when I go upstairs to my home I complain from difficulty in breathing ...
in fact this is not the only problem ... I always have heart burn ... and at the morning when I wake up I hardly can catch my breath because my throat is closed with sputum ... my non-smoker friends have told me many times that my smell is not good because of smoking ... it stuck on my clothes ...
NEVERTHELESS :- I can't quit smoking !!!
I tried many times ... but I rapidly gave up and returned back to this bad habit ...
I tried to put a gum in my mouth and keep chewing it ... but this didn't work with me ...
when ever I don't smoke for more than 1 hour I become very nervous and not concentrated ...
Tell me what shall I do ??? I really want to stop smoking but I can't ??? what is your suggestions ???

Well, for one thing, your body is hooked on the nicatene. Sadly, you are just like an addict. I'm not saying that to be mean; it just the truth. I would advise see a doctor and see if he can come up with a plan for you to stop smoking. If you haven't realized by now, Your habit is getting more expensive. So it would be a good idea to try that route with your doctor and see if that works.

I'm a social smoker, and I make it a point to smoke ONLY a few sticks a day, to make sure I don't get addicted. As the few guys above me have pointed out, it takes alot of determination to want to quit, and to actually quit smoking. It's rly rly tough.
Maybe if you can, try to cut down in phases. Like 2 packs today, resolve by end of the week, smoke 2 sticks less per day. It may seem very little, but it helps! Get your friends to monitor you!
Also, stay away from air-conditioned areas, cos they're the places that make you feel the withdrawal most seriously, making you prone to want to go smoke again. Also, getting yourself busy and keeping yourself occupied helps too!
Good luck!

As you know, smoking is harmful for the health, and it's better for you to quit it. I would like to share you the experience to quit it from my dad. Several years ago, my dad still smoked. But he wanted to quit it at last. Perhaps he finally realized that it's bad for his health. Then he tried to do more housework like mopping the floor when he felt like smoking. He kept on doing so for a week. And he felt less interested in smoking. And he succeeded to quit it at last.

oh you really cant!!you know why?coz you already said that you just cant!!in order for you to stop from that bad habit is mind setting..it plays an important role for you to succeed quitting..believe me because im already done with that..i experienced the same way you experienced..the only thing that can help you is you..yourself alone...have a good discipline with yourself..its hard at first but when you set your mind..nothing is impossible..also try to avoid grouping with other smokers too coz they might loosen your self control and tempt you..good luck..

I don't know if these options will all be available to you, but I find that the patches help the feeling ou get after quitting. it will give you just enough nicotine to make your cravings manageable. Also, find something else to do wit your hand and mouth. If you're having a craving keep a large bottle of water with you and slowly take sips. The first couple weeks is the worst, but it will really be worth it when you start to feel healthier and have more energy and freedom. It's a hard road and I've quit a couple times. I usually stick to the cold turkey method, but my husband smokes and eventually I get stressed out and cave in. For me to quit he's going to have to do it right along with me. Which means we'll be irritated at eachother for awhile. Some doctors also have medications that can help you. If you have medical insurance I'd definately check into that. In my opinion gum makes it worse. When you get that feeling of nervousness and jitters it is just your body fighting to get more nicotine. I've always just sat there and told myself NO, I'm going to overcome this and this is just my body getting better. Good luck, I hope you make it through.

I'm tryig the cutdown method right now. I'm down to one when I get up and after meals. I'm trying to only smoke halves when I do it. It's working for me right now. It's losing the habit during those "ritual times" that I'm struggling with. I average about 3 cigs a day. I think it's going to get harder though. I took about three weeks to get this far. If you need supprt don't hesitate to ask. I know how hard it is.

You have to be determined to stop. If you have someone who stays with you most of the day, tell them to follow you around and not to let you smoke at all. I used to smoke alot before but I haven't smoked for 3 weeks now. It really works

I did the thing that I told you. Well, if all your friends are smokers, maybe you have a sibling?

Smoking is a nasty habit and one that is very difficult to stop. I was a smoker before and it was terrible when I tried to stop. I finally did it and I am no longer addicted to nicotine, one of the most addictive substances there are. cheers!!

I understand your situation because i've seen it how hard to quit smoking from my father. The process is hard and long and most of the time he compromised the process of quiting.Because to cut back and quit smoking involves physical and mental aspects. Physical because in the sense that the body reacts to the nicotine which is highly addictive. Mentally in the sense that the smoket faced with giving up a habit , which will be a major change in their behavior. I've seen how my dad struggling to quit smoking. He started with chewing gum and candies to ease the nicotine addiction. Little by little i've seen the progress and finally he made it. It is a day to day decision and it is really hard from the start but I kow you will make it anyway that would be for your health. Keep going!

Try telling your friends not to smoke around you. you could also buy something to take the addictiveness away.
