Hi,
I have a Dell Xp. I'm getting a warning saying I do not have a firewall or anti-virus program.
I currently have AD-AdwareSE, Comcast desktop doctor,Malwarebytes'Anti-malware,
Spybot search,Windows Defender and I thought I had everything covered??
What should I do how do I turn on firewall and do any of the above programs give m anti-virus protection?
Is McAfee good to download, if so, what is the link to get it free?
I appreciate your help more than I can say.
Thank You .
Dixie

Hi, I had the same problem with my computer, I use Windows Vista and it said I don't have my firewall turned on and then I turned on my firewall and after a couple of days it came back to normal. I think you should reinstall all those programs or update them because I had to do that on my sisters laptop to make it recognize the firewall. Also I think that AVG internet security is the best anti-virus heres a link http://free.avg.com/download

Don't download any anti-viruses. They have copyrights and they could just be viruses. My advice to you is that you go out and buy a copy of AVG. People say Kaspersky is the best but now, all viruses are anti-Kaspersky so it's pretty useless.

Do have a look at Comodo Internet Security at comodo.com. The latest is version 3.9. The free version, known as CIS, is quite comprehensive. Its firewall function is stronger than many others on the market. CIS can be used with AVG 8.5 and Avast. Ever since using CIS and SuperAntiSpyware I am not having much problem with malware compared to early last year.
Another aspect which you should give attention to is the type of browser for browsing the Internet. IE was the least secure. I said 'was' because IE8 is said to be more secure but I have not used it long enough to make a proper judgment on it. There are malware which sneak through browsers by pretending to be a legitimate piece of code necessary for the browser.
all the best,
