I went for the interview in this company and I told my employer that I can only work 3 days a week. After that,I asked for my salary and my employer offered me $1000 on a 1 month basis. At the end of the month,my salary is calculated as $1000/31 days times times the number of days I work.I think this is wrong because it should be $1000/26.How can you include Sundays in?I went into an argument with my boss and I quited but I'm still confused.Am I right or wrong? Please let me know.

Hi friend how you have calculated your salary $1000 . If it is on 26 day per month basis than your salary for a day would be around $38.46. so for 3 days per week your working days are 12. Thus your monthly salary would be $461.52 as per your working plan and according to your boss it will come around $399.96. it would have been better that you should have renegotiated in on per day basis or on monthly basis with like yu should ask for $500 for 12 working days per month. Employer who does not wants to pay employs always confuse them in calculations and save money. Your arguement is right at your place and their is always space of negotiation only thing is you have to be ready with all calculations.

YEs it should be like 1000/26 x12 , But you have not done this calculation at the time of negotiation and company has also no made his point clear. Infact they just demoralise you ,which is not fair. otherwise they could have renegotiated the matter and could have compensated it in next month.

Neither one is correct and here's why. February only has 28 days and some other months have 30 or 31. The correct way to fairly compensate an employee on a daily basis, is as follows.
They offered you 1,000 a month. Thus, they offered you 12,000 a year. 12,000/365 is the correct way for figuring out what your daily pay should be.
Unless you discussed Sundays or Saturdays in advance, the above is how it should be calculated.

I am in agreement with thread 4 but I think that you were too hasty in quitting your job. Sometimes it is good to settle a misunderstanding when there are calm so after seeing the frustration what you should have done is to walk away and when the parties is calm then you can rediscussed this issue. But you have quit and so take this as learning experience and don't allowed it to happened again.

I think your employer just want to make your work days same like the other employee.I think you are lucky because still get paid with the same amount like other employee work fully month. If you not get paid,it is unlucky and you must defense yourself by ask your boss about this.Thank you.

If you are only a temporary employee, that really makes sense. The salary offered to you is $1000/31 per day, it is that simple, it is only your own choice, if you accept it then you do this job, if not, find another one. I think the employer should change the way he told others their salaries, I think he said it this way let you feel strange but actually he was just telling you how they pay you per day.
I don't think it is your fault or it's the employer's fault.

You should check with your employement office but unless you agreed to include Sundays with the initial interview and contract then it's your bosses miscalculation.

but can you answer me a question,if you asked leave a day, your employer would deduct the salary for that day,so would you like to reduct the salary for a day as $1000/31 or $1000/26?for our company,if we leave a day,we was deducted as $1000/26?we all employee would like to calculate as $1000/31.but anyway,i won't able to win the employer for this point, the employers are soooooo smart all over the world.

The employer should have done this "$1000/number of days you worked" if you didn't work on sundays then he should have removed those days. Will you still get paid?
