What's your favorite cover song?

My favorite has to be Big Yellow Taxi by the Counting Crows. It was originally done by Joni Mitchell in the late 60's (I think). I like her version too but I really like the Counting Crows more.

katzmeow1213 I love this question for it really got me listening right now to some of my favorite tunes..... Let me start with David Cook, the winner of American Idol-Season 7. On the night of the Top 24 the theme was the 1960's. DC sang "Happy Together" which was a 1967 hit that made The Turtles a one hit wonder and the song a classic. Anyway DC did a rendition of this song that made it so contemporary and in the groove. Then on the week of the top 16 the theme was the 1980's and DC sang "Hello" a Lionel Ritchie song that was also a hit record. Simon even said Lionel liked it alot as he had coincidentally had seen Lionel in the supermarket that day:) Top 7 night was Mariah Careys and he did "Aways Be My Baby" which was amazing. The night of the Top 5 the theme was Neil Diamond and he blew me away with "All I Need is You" and "I'm Alive". I guess you could say American Idol in itself is one big Cover Song:) And lastly I want to add Rod Stewart and his version of Bob Dylans song "If Not For You".

I love cover songs when they're done well, but sometimes...they should have just left well enough alone. I have a lot of favourites but one that I really enjoy right now is Fall Out Boy's cover of Michael Jackson's Beat It
