Hi my lotians,
i am sorry for not coming here as regular as i should.but you know sometime of the year its really difficult to run a schedule for everything.anyway today i wanted to write something about racial violence and would like to know your thoughts on it...
recently in Australia there was a series of attackes on the Indian students. The government says its all criminal activities not racism.but the students there and their parents are protesting about it as a racial descrimination.not only that there was another incident came to light in england where an iim passout student from india who was working in morgan stanly in london was beaten severly by 15 men in which he lost the eye sight of one of his eye.and the police did not do anything at that time after a month through cctv footings they managed to track someone...
are these all just the criminal activities or just the treatment for a "slumdog".
Just another incident which though imaginary enough to co relate them...
it all started from the house of BIG BOSS(Britain) where Jade GOODY made some racial comments on Shilpa Shetty and later she apologised for her comments and shilpa managed to win that episode as a souvnier to the cause of noble thoughts and all human are equal. Now after few days back there was a film project on the floor named "Slumdog Millionair".Now what the script was purely indian only the director and few other crew members were british.it went to win 8 Academy Awards in cluding best Music. But the most important thing from it were the controversys about the film.Outside India people started calling the indians as "Slumdogs".
so was that some kind of sweet revenge that the britishers took from the indians as at one time britain was blamed for racial comment and the next moment people are commenting on Indians as "Slumdogs"...
please put some light to this discussion as it is a little hard subject.but i think i'll get some good answers too...
