30 day notice

Ok, I need to rant. I am a pharmacy recruiter and our business is really down and I just started a couple of months ago. Well yesterday I got a 30 day notice saying that if I don't bill 30k or get 3 deals this month that I won't have a job in July. Ok, I had an idea that it was coming but what shocked me was that it was 30k that I had to bill when the whole pharmacy team only billed 38k last month all together. My dad is the VP of the office in CT (I'm in the FL office and a different division all together). My dad has to put a lot of people on notice and he's not happy about it but they gave their people realistic goals. Seeing how I've never billed before how do they expect me to do 30k in 1 month? AHHH. I'm already starting to look at different options. My goal was to of course keep this job so that starting in the fall I can go to night school to become a nurse but now I have no idea what I am going to do. My friends that are on my team are helping me every way possible so that we can try to save my job but they are laying off people left and right. I know I am very lucky to have a job. My best friend who graduated from college with me last year can't find anything better than a retail job and she's applied everywhere. The job market in FL is so bad at this point. Sorry, I just had to rant about this on here seeing how my boyfriend isn't home so I can't vent to him at how frustrated I am at this point and time.

Not knowing your business makes it hard to comment on but I haven't let that stop me yet. LOL
Often when a company wants to get rid of someone they need an excuse, especially if you have been doing the job that you were hired to do. So making you bill an unrealistic goal serves two purposes. There may be an outside chance you can do it so they benefit from it. If you can't they have the excuse they need to let you go.
Regardless of the reason they are clearly being unrealistic. I do hope you can work something out. If I knew more of what your business involves I may have had some advise but..........sorry.

It's ok, and yes they do put all the 30 day notices really high and almost unreachable to people. In the past month they've let go of 6 people. They are being very cut throat right now and it's just BLAH but I need a job and this one pays well.

I know what you are talking about. I live in Fl. too. It is really bad. My daughter just graduated from UF and she will be moving out of state directly because it is that hopeless here. She is working now, but it is so far below her potential it is ridiculous.
I am moving out of state too and going back to work even though I am totally disabled. I have to help her pay back her student loan before Obama makes her do that stupid "3 year volunteer" service thing. She was too old for it but they are going to change the age.
She is paying on the loan and was even before she graduated, but that does not seem to count.

What 3 year volunteer service thing? I don't want to do that!!!! I just graduated I am paying my student loans myself. I have 10k more to pay and my dad is paying the other 22k. I can't wait to move out of Florida, I really do not like it down here anymore. We are planning on moving to IL but we don't have the money right now to move so we have to be down here probably at least one more year.

I think I can understand how you feel. I never received such high amount to pay at once but the bankers keep calling me to pay for my car loan. They also give me a month notice. The problem is, I haven't receive my salary yet and it's already three months. I am supposed to receive it by the end of this month. I already told them the reason and asked them to wait. Clearly, recession time make people desperate and agitate.

I totally know what you are going through. Recently I worked as 'General Manager'--aka sell as much personal training--at a small local gym in a blue collar town in northern california. They had an outrageous goal of 30k in a month, which is a lot for the demographics. I spent endless hours at the gym, pleading the members to buy some training, I just couldn't hit the monthly goal. Before I knew it, I was catching wind that my head was nearing the chopping block...so I 'stepped down'.
I'm not suggesting you do the same, but to relate that there are lots of other people out there facing the same hatchet and it has nothing to do with you. Rather it's the company who is desperate for money and because of it, they are taking drastic measures. Basically showing their true loyalty colors. Sounds like a deal breaker!
