Well it's a personal preference really. i've grown up using windows though, so that's what i stick with, and mainly because it's got all the applications i need and i can also play the latest 3d games and always have and know what drivers my hardware is using. It appears to be that people who use mac os x is not technologically inclined or just want to do the basic things, surf internet, type email, type documents etc, and maybe play whatever games is available on mac. they are the kind of people who say - hand it to me and i'll use what's there, without fuss, but windows people like to configure things, and fine tune, interact more deeply. not saying such functionality isn't available for mac, but you would realise that why some basic things are easier on the mac, slightly more complex things are way harder on mac than on windows, if you get what i'm saying. to appreciate windows is really to investigate what those other operating systems cannot do. you have to realise that mac is based on the bsd operating system which is something based on unix, and unix was always meant to be a server operating system not a desktop one. the mac os x interface was designed by apple untop to hide the underlaying architecture, windows on the other hand (it's architecture) was designed to run desktop applications and isn't nearly as good for hosting websites. I believe the newest technologies which windows 7 has brought forward is something that mac has not yet achieved, features such as readyboost, readydrive, superfetch, all making use of every last bit of hardware you have. on the mac you don't even know if that exists. while i do agree the mac has a cleaner and nicer feel to the desktop the simplicity is sometimes too much and lacks the features a power user would want, thus defeating one of macs marketing strategies, simple and no simpler - so you have to resort to getting more apps to install for this and that feature.
on the hardware side of things, i really like the apple macbook pros (new aluminum ones), especially that backlit keyboard and extremely thin profile. no other notebook on the pc side of things have come close. but then again, thats just hardware. that also brings me to another point, i'm a poweruser and i overclock my hardware to extract every last bit of performance from it, done through the BIOS. mac computers do not have a bios, they use something called EFI and you cannot overclock them as far as i know. It's still possible to even run mac on PCs now with efi emulation and hacked kernels (on overclocked hardware), but i wouldn't bother with that because you need drivers for everything and i dont get the same confidential feel of stability as i do on windows.
those two operating systems do target each type of person successfully and that wouldn't change anytime soon, which is good.

No ifs and or buts . .BUY A MAC
Top 5 reasons why:
1-You get more from your personal media- use Macs stuff and it will only enhance your stuff ..dont use it and it wont hinder anything you do.
2-Amazing hardware design . .this is why creative people have always prefered the Mac
3-Surprises in the software- Mac OS is designed to reward experimentation. There is usually 3 or 4 ways to complete a task such as start a slideshow from a group of files. The ease of dragging and dropping is amazing!
4-No security worries- need I say more . .with windows it is those damn Norton Virus and others that usually create more problems for the user than anything
5-Apples Customer Service- one call-one person -one less hassle
Oh and here is a reason just cause I want to let you know the reasons just never end . . ask a Mac user and they will always tell you how much they love their Mac. . you never hear that from a PC user!

Windows. Its user friendly. But if I just had the luxury of money and If I was just born with a MAC then I'd definitely go for a MAC. But for now it's windows.

between mac or windows?simply Linux!!
i really don't like mac software they are too much limited and if you want something freeware there are few than others os and in many cases on mac you pay, pay, pay afterthat you still pay!!I used few times a mac or mac os and never understood why people like it and spend so much money to buy a mac or mac os..In fact i am a prouud pc user!!
As os i like some distribution of Linux primary and if properly you don't like it so i choose the old windows...this os it is a pretty heavy but its work it will do yet!!
so normally on my pc run two os : one Linux distribution and one windows one and normally i will choose one of these depedning what i must do on my pc!!

I know that mac is better than windows but I prefer to use windows. The first reason is affordability. I know that it is safer than windows but windows applications are easily available. It becomes difficult to make software changes. I customize my PC according to my use. I don't find people to help me with mac issue if I have any.

sumandep I appreciate your thoughts on this but I just want to let you know that the support available for Mac users from other Mac users and more importantly from the people at Apple is far superior to any help or support I ever got while I was using Windows.
Happy MyLotting to you!

hi Opticalidea
I have been using windows during my life . because of it, I had made the habit only using windows operating system. but, if you make some exercise with mac I believe I can do that. its just depend on the habit from the user. both of OS, mac or windows have some of advantage, in different side. so it doesn't matter.
