I rate every one write on my discussion positively ... is that wrong ???

Hi i think its ok but for me i do not get much time to spend with mylot because i have to manage a family of five and lot of daily chores are to be done and so i get little time but whenever i get i do login to do some communication and express what i feel.Generally i can post one to two responses to discussions which are placed when i login and if i am interested to,sometimes i start discussions my self if i get more time.I have no routine made for my lot,I love the net and as well i love this site so when ever i get time i get connected. But i am also interested to rate others but again sometime feel if i will hurt anyone unknowingly by rating what will happen,because you are not seeing the one you are rating you are rating him/her just seeing what he/she writes and very often i have seen that some people can not express themselves through writing,some may not be good at writing so i refrain from rating though people are rating me.lol

I am sort of new to the site. I didn't know you could rate people. How do you do that? I feel silly asking this!

There's nothing wrong with that but I don't think you should rate positively if someone gives a really stupid response (like mean or something). Negative ratings won't decrease your payment. You can see how people have rated you when you have 100+ posts. A star will appear next to your username (just like the one I have) and the number inside the star tells you your rating. Also if you move your cursor over the star, you will see a little more accurate rating, on a scale from 0-100. The bigger your rating is, the more positive and less negative ratings you have. I don't think you should rate every single person positively. You are better off reading what they have to say and then rating them on the basis of that. I tend to only rate someone positively if I feel that have replied to my discussion with a meaningful comment, rather than just replying for the sake of earning that extra cent.

Hi. I does that too. I guess it is not so bad to do such things because it's the least that I can do for the people who has helped me. Nevertheless, if their answer is irrelevant or even rude, then it's best to leave it like that. I don't rate negative...charged from experience. *smiles*

I rate most discussions positive or nothing at all. They have to be really really rude for me to rate them negative. How can you tell what someone rates you? I don't think you can. Can it decrease your payments? Not sure but I imagine if you get enough negative ratings on a discussion or response, it may get deleted and that could affect your payment i imagine. I think it takes a lot of negatives to really affect you...not just the opinion of a couple of people. If you play nice then I wouldnt worry about it.

Yes, I also rate positively every discussion I reply to. I think there is nothing wrong with that. People deserve to be rated positively for answering and giving you their time and reading your post.

I wish everything could be idealistic enough to be rated positive, but I have a few exceptions. For positive, you'd have to give something new, a unique, original insight. For negative, your response has to be bad - that is, just a repetition or something with stark grammar/spelling mistakes with little consideration for the content - but often this unlikely. Else, no ratings, which means neutrality. However, I give most people positive ratings!

I am also new to mylot and I was wondering if I should rate every responses. I too like people and will now go rate the respones for my discussion thank you for this discussion.

Hi there 3orabi! Good day to you! I think what you are doing is not wrong! Rating people is a subjective opinion and an opinion is never wrong! We have our own insights on things and people and it is in our own prerogative to rate people the way we want to rate them because it is us who are rating them. I think what you are doing is nice because you see the positive side in every person you rate. That is not wrong 3orabi! Do not doubt yourself if you are right or not in rating people! Not at all. This shows how good you are. I also do the same thing often. Rating the responders positive is a way of showing our gratitude to them for responding to our discussions. Also, it will help them increase their mylot ratings. This gives them a sort of happiness. Good job!
