POwer and corruption on election

Why are people so into election? running for a position, and i think the salary is not that big and with great power comes with great responsibility. We all know that they just into offcourse power and corruption. I dont understnd why they're aiming for that. Y not plan for the future on how we solve the economic crisis. I always think that next election what if i won't vote, its that its too irritating on your way to vote , there are groups that would talk to you and secretly give money to buy for vote. they are so annoying.
