I know that we can rate other members comments. But do every one rates the comments on mylot. Is it that you have to rate only the comments that are useful? I believe all the comments are useful and has some information. so can we rate all the comments of the discussions as positive? or do we have to rate only the best response.

I rate all the comments where people have made an attempt to contribute something useful to the discussion. That means most but not all responses and comments. I only rate negatively if the response seems to be purposely disruptive or off topic. If I see a flame war (or the beginnings of one) in deliberately unkind or derogatory comments - not just differences of opinion , I both report the perpetrator and rate them negatively. Sometimes it is very difficult to decide on a particular Best Response - often there have been several to whom I would wish to accord that honour - so, of course, I rate all of those who have made good contributions. There is a case to be made for a more points-based rating system where excellent contributors could see higher positive ratings in a discussion than others who did not participate so well. In fact, I believe that something like this does happen but is not shown. MyLot are not very specific about how ratings are factored into the earnings algorithm: they only say that they are taken into account.

Do you mean that if someone's response is not related to the topic or is diverting the topic of the discussion we should rate them negative. can we mark more than one comment as best response?

I am certainly very reluctant to rate anyone negative, and I only do so very occasionally. I would usually not rate someone at all if I felt they had not tried to add anything of substance to the discussion. You can only give one Best Response in a discussion and you cannot change it, once given. I always feel that it is best to leave awarding a Best Response for at least a week and often longer so that all those that have an interest may have the chance to respond. I usually give ratings, on the other hand, as soon as I read the responses and comments and as I am adding my own comments, where appropriate.

It is your wish to rate the response or comment. Rating an answer as best response will increase the money value of the responder. It is in the hands of you to rate the comment as positive or mark as best response.
