or not eat the stuff in the first place! Seeing the calories per item is not a mind-slapping as seeing what you have to do to get rid of those calories!

To me... none of that stuff is worth all that work!!! I'll pass on the item! How about you?

I agree - Once you see exactly what you have to do to get rid of the calories you just ate, it's almost not worth it....If i am going to cheat though, i would probably do it with something I really really enjoy...such as a slice of cheesecake..I know its very bad for you - so i make sure i do the treadmill for about an hour and then reward myself.. :)

I dont' eat any of these mentioned things, but yeah.. if I am going to cheat or eat more calories... I'll not eat something else and "save" those calories for my treat. Being so stringent often makes loosing weight harder.

Well there are many other types of activities that can help you burn those calories more efficiently, they just gave a few examples in that article.
For example, you could run at a faster speed to burn 230 calories from a donut instead of walking for an hour.
This may seem discouraging, but for those who have problems sticking to a diet, burning extra calories by exercising while going easy on the nutrition part is very helpful.
I'm currently on a diet and one of the hardest things for me to stick to is giving up sweets... they are my weakness and I'd rather do more exercises to burn extra calories than hold this diet any longer! Recently I got more convinced that losing weight is easy if you follow the simple rule of burning more calories than you take in.
So it doesn't really matter what you eat, as long as you make sure to burn those calories. There are so many other activities, exercises and sports that can help you burn those calories faster, so it doesn't necessarily have to take a very long time.

Most definately it is nearly just common sense... burn more than you eat. I don't eat any of those things mentioned, but I am a visual person. The number of calories is on everything and to the point means next to nothing... but put it with the activity to see what you have to do to get rid of that item's calories... just hits home a bit more for me. I don't have hardly any favorite sweets.. but I will go all day and not eat much so I can have my 2 slices of pizza for dinner or something like that. I'll take pizza or enchilladas over candy any day! We all have our favorites... and if you deprive yourself of them.. just makes the diet so much harde. But alter it a bit and have a treat sometimes.. and it sure helps to make it through the diet... not that I have to much sucess with diets, but at least I am not gaining!

I used to do that all the time, I ate less during the day to be able to have something sweet for dinner... :)I knew it was useless because I won't lose weight anyway, it just slowed down my metabolism, but at least I didn't go over my calorie limit so I wasn't feeling that gulity...
It's true, everyone has their favourites, though it's very hard for me to believe someone could actually prefer something else rather than sweets... I guess I'm just too addicted to them and I'd rather exercise until I faint to eat some :D
I envy those who can manage "moderation" :| I love extremes, you either eat as much as you want or don't eat at all. It makes you feel worse if you have just a bite of your favourite dish in my opinion...

Well , don't get me wrong.. I love cream filled cocolates like See's.. but they are just to expensive for me to eat and enjoy so I usually only splurge at christmas time when they are prominant! I love that licorice layer things where there is one layer black licorice and the next is s cream fondant or something and they layer it up like that, but that is expensive for the good stuff.. and hte cheap stuff just isn't worth the calories or the strain on my teeth! Cotton Candy is my all time favorite...love it and even have chap stick in that flavor but again... gotta be fresh or just not worth the calories and I just won't let myself get obsessed over it enough to buy a machine to make it at home!!! And chcolate covered marshmallows... love them, but again...gotta be the good stuff and Easter is the only time that comes out so... it also works to do it in line with the seasons too, I guesss!! hadn't thought about that!
I just know it is hard for me to loose as I can't be as active as one needs to be to loose much, so I really have to watch it. I like things, but don't like the weight even less, so actually it isn't really hard for me to not miss some things. I have tired the thing "eat just one"... like with candy... walking at the mall and get just one piece of candy at the store... just makes me want more, gets me depressed when I know I can't have more... then I get disgusted... and all over a piece of candy, that now, I wish I hadn't eaten and didn't enjoy! Good grief.. that's the way it is but sounds horrible in writing!! Think I'll just go fill my ice tea and calm down!!!
