Where is the best place to live in the U.S? I know that this is a subjective question, but I'm really interested to see who has the best outlook on their town or city. I live in western New York and quite frankly I'm sick of it! It's too cold, taxes are sky high! You can barely find a backyard bigger than 1 square foot...the cities are struggling to survive - the whole area just seems oppressed - it might just be time to get out of here!

Cache Valley, UT. It is absolutely gorgeous, it's one of the most affordable places in the US as well as one of the safest. Unfortunately there's not much in the way of jobs there right now or I'd move back in a heart beat. However, as a whole, Utah is generally a pretty nice place to live. (Don't go to Ogden or some areas of Salt Lake City. But Sugar House, Sandy, Riverton, Herriman, West Jordan, and quite a few other suburbs of Salt Lake City are REALLY nice and right now VERY affordable.) I think their sales tax is about 6.5% depending on where you live. Not sure on property taxes, but their income tax ranges between 2.3-7%. They use this money wisely. I moved to Wyoming where there is no state income tax and all other taxes are pretty low, and it shows. Everything looks gross, things just aren't well kept. Most cities in Utah look really nice.
Anyway, out of all the places I've lived Utah is my favorite. (I've lived in Michigan, California, Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming.)

Oh and PS - there are jobs in Utah and their schools are pretty good. My step son goes to school there and I actually might go to the University of Utah to get my PharmD. My step brother is going there right now, my other step brother just graduated from USU which is another good college.

I would love to know the place best to live in the U.S as I might fly over in the summer time. I heard good things about New York City, so I might travel there for a holiday :)

NYC is great! But not the place for me to live there...I need suburbs close to a big city - I couldn't stand being too remote. I just have to find that magical city that has jobs, affordable houses, intelligent population, good schools...LOL it has to be a magical city!

I live in south central Florida and I love it here! Unlike the coastal areas there is little congestion or traffic out here in rural Florida, just small towns and very nice people. The weather is nice all year round, there are many beaches on two coasts an hour or two away...more farther up or down the coast...and you can buy a lot of house for the money. The only drawback, other than hurricanes, is that there's not much out here so you also have to drive for about an hour if you want to do any serious shopping, see a movie or have dinner at someplace other than Sonny's.
