I have been looking forward to this game since the first whisper of it blew across the internet. But for the most part, it is a study in boredom. What chills my butt the most is that I have to wait outside the office while my sims goes inside to work. DULLSVILLE! My Sim worked overtime and I had to scroll over the neighborhood map to send her home. She can't afford a car and at this rate she never will.
The Graphics are huge letdown. You can tweak more than you could before in that you can color everyting but when you start the game the quality is pretty poor. Somewhere between The Sims 1 and the Sims 2. Closer to 1.
The bar below is also heavily loaded. There is so much to keep your eye on. I think if I play my Sim to retirement, I will be qualified to fly a plane as I suspect there are fewer buttons to push in the "rooster" pit.(my lot would not let me call it by its real name. Sorry)
I was ready to be dazzled. Instead I am frazzed. After 3 hours of aggressive game play I only got my Sims one promotion and a new bed. It's OK but I don't think it's worth the $49.00 price tag.

I used to play the sims and was a loyal follower that is till they decided to change the sims online and make it EA Land and messed it up. They were trying to fix some money aspect of the game and all that they did was cause the game to fail. They could have revamped it instead of wasting money on sims 3 and fixing what was already a great game and a working game as well. The topper was that when they announced that they would be closing the game they said that they would no longer be billing for the game. That was a lie they continued to bill me all the way up to the last month and in order for me to get the money back I had to call there tech support and complain the problem with that was that no one spoke any english and I never did get my money back. The sad thing is that I was not the only one that was billed even after they said that they wouldnt. Granted it was only 60 dollars but it was still 60 dollars that I would have loved to have spent on something special for me. Then they gave us a 15 dollar credit to use on pogo. Pogo of all things what about another game free for the month you know something like that. Pogo makes me sick so I never took advantage of there 15 dollars as big deal who wants to be a paid member of pogo when you can play for free right. So needless to say as far as I am concerened I will never buy or play another EA Electronic Arts game again. Such a shame as I really liked the sims and thought they were destined for great things but I guess thats what happens when you have the wrong people incharge and not listening to the people that they are trying to make the games for. Us the consumer.

I never played online. But Sims 2 is so much better than Sims 3. I think they tried to do too much with one game. So you don't need an expansion pack for a car. Half the time I tell my Sim to drive somewhere and the idiot runs there. I consider that I threw that money away.

It's too challenging. You have too much control and not enough time to do all the things you want to do. I don't feel like I'm playing a game. I feel like I'm babysitting a very stupid, co-dependant adult.

I finally played the game today. I had waited for this game for months and finally I installed it. I was disappointed with it from the minute it started. It does not give you a choice of neighbourhood. Sims 2 Base game gave you a choice of three neighbourhoods. This one just has that sunset valley. And no choice of creating my own neighbourhood. And I dont even have a choice of having a lot of my own and building my own house from the scratch. I thought that they they would have kept a few things from sims 2 as base. There is nothing better in this version. Though I did like the choice they gave in make your sims, the choice of clothes is soooooo limited. Whoever made this game made a half hearted attempt in making things. Though I like the shopping of groceries where I can choose the type of groceries I can buy but then it is not possible to go in like in sims 2 to see them shop.
I like sims 2 better and wish they come up with an expansion pack for sims 2 with more careers and a better sims creation and groceries selection like sims 3 and it will be a far superior game. I am really disappointed in sims 3.

It's a disappointment to hear this. I absolutely love everything about the Sims and I got it on my iTouch and it's almost impossible to get a promotion at work. I just stopped playing it and there is a lot to keep focused on and you have to buy like everything. The trailer looks really cool though and it did drag me in but I guess they did not reach the expectations of its players. Hopefully the Sims will bring an expansion that is a knockout. Like the Pets or the Stories or something. I hope the creators know they sucked this one up.

I too am a bit disappointed with the Sims 3. There are a few things that get on my nerves, Time is definitely an issue on the Sims 3. Everything is soo slow, not sure if its just me or my computer but its definitely slower than the sims 2. It takes like 3 times more to just cook. Although it adds realism to the game its still an annoyance. And the work schedule seem to take ages for them to get home.
Definitely something they need to fix. I do love the new options the game has with every little detail when making sim and being able to use patterns to make items unique and fit your needs. Definitely a plus.
All in all its an OK game, I was expecting better though. Hopefully expansion packs this year bring more uniqueness to the game.
