i just finished watching Hayden Christensen and Jessica Alba's movie tittled AWAKE and it is a movie about anesthesia awareness. Receiving general anesthesia the vast majority go to sleep peacefully they remember nothing. And some are not fortunate they find themselves unable to sleep trapped in a what they call anesthesia awareness. They are paralyzed and can not scream for help for they are awake. this is very scary. i know to myself that anesthesia makes me sleep and i wake up if everythings finished already. but how about to others. i dont know anybody who has anesthesia awareness but this really is scary. i read on the net some people who under went operation and has this phenomenom commit suicide for they have flashbacks of the pains and even have night mares.
have you seen the movies?

Hi roni. I haven't seen that movie.
All I know about general anaesthesia is that it affects our memory like forgetfulness. I didn't know that it will have that really scary effects on our brain. Isn't it that most moms who gave birth and was given general anaesthesia are saying that they became forgetful after that. They also call that effect "mum-nesia", and I think I have that hehehe...so forgetful at times.
This is a very interesting topic. I think i will make more research on this and write an article about it in my website.

i saw the trailer a few times before but i haven't seen the film.
it is really scary knowing for a fact that you are aware of everything that's going on and you can't do a thing if ever something wasn't going right for you. you wanted to scream but can't. you wanted to ask for help but you know you coudn't. it's very frustrating and so scary being the one who's being operated on and you play witness also at the same time.

I haven't seen that movie but i find it very interesting... i know of some friends and collegues who underwent this anesthesia awareness... but they said they never felt any of the pain... they were just aware of what the doctors were doing... and can even hear their conversations...

No, I haven't seen the movie, but have heard about people being conscious during operations. It's a horrific thought - being aware of what's going on but unable to speak or move.

yes i can not imagine how much pain that would be. just imagining getting your teeth pulled without anesthesia, then imagening it on a open surgery operation. that would really be so painful. my thinking was, is there really is a person who experience this kind of phenomenom. its kinda wierd but unbelievable at the same time. thanks for the response
