I get around 5 hours a night. Now understand the expected average is 8 hours a night, well due to the way i live and the hours my job demands thats not possible.Basically this discussion comes in the form a question.
Is having three hours sleep less than i am expected to have any negative effects on my health?

This is a really good discussion because sleep is very important when it comes to living and having energy, and I have always heard doctors say you need at least eight hours of sleep, but I think how much sleep is needed depends on each person and how active they are, some people might need eight hours, while others might need just three hours, and I can understand how everyone is different,I do not think that it will hurt you to have five hours sleep,if that is what it takes to help you feel energized, and when it comes to me and my fiance we usually vary on how much we sleep some nights we will get eight hours, some nights we will get five hours, some nights we might only get three hours because we could not sleep, but it never seems to hurt us,it only makes us get tired sooner if we sleep less, and we normally go to bed about midnight and she gets up at like nine a.m.,and I fall asleep about two a.m. and usually get up anywhere from ten thirty a.m. to eleven thirty a.m. just depending on how good I sleep and what all we have to do that day, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

You are more than welcome for the response,I am always happy to respond to peoples discussions so I can share my opinions, and it also is a good way to learn other peoples opinions, and maybe even find ways to look at a situation that you would have never thought of,every mylotter brings so much to the table, and it is good that we all work together like a team, and I am glad that you also think that amount of sleep depends on each individual, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

it very nice writing style you have btw. you make good points for i have been having less than 8 hours sleep for a long time and feel perfectly healthy as do you and your wife and as you said it doesn't effect you either. i think this one is based on the individual and varients in sleep each individual needs.

i have to go to bed around 10:30 or 11 and if i dont, i find i dont sleep well because i am over tired. i usually get up around 7. your sleep is like putting money in a bank account. if you always dont get enough sleep, its like taking money out. you need to make sure that you replenish that and if you take too much out, it does damage. so the answer to your question could be yes, if done over a long period of time.

well cher, it been my routine for over a year now. it not really affected me, apart from the first week or so, but i think my body has adapted to getting a short ammount of sleep.
I am curious though, what damage does lack of sleep do? does is affect brain cells? or my muscles or something?

I going to agree with the first response because I came across an article resently. It stated that not everyone requires the same amount of sleep. Some can get off with a few hours of minumum sleep while others really need those eight hours. And if your like me eight is never enough.

i agree with the first response too. why i rated. it seem strange to me that every single human reqires 8 hours sleep to function properly. i jus worried bout possible unseen health risks

I agree with you jb78000. My doctor advice me to sleep 8 hours a day to avoid having low blood. He did gave vitamins with iron for supplement. But I can't sleep 8 hours a day because of hectic schedule.

If you can remain brisk with your five hours sleep, then no problem.8 hours sleep is just common to say,but it differs with everybody. Some need less and some need more.If a man can work at relaxed mood, face the world cool, then he can wake up for more hours without getting tired. So,don't you worry,if you feel comfortable.Cheers!
