Hi,
I just spent 2 days trying to set my hp pavilion 2000 back to factory condition. The hard drive got riddled with incomplete files etc. I hate when things don't completely uninstall. But anyway if you want to know how I did it. I went to recovery manager then clicked on advanced settings. From their I clicked on restore software I think. I will update this its still repairing my laptop. But after that I clicked no on Microsoft system restore since mine doesn't go back to the first day I bought my hp. I clicked yes on the next one that asked me if I wanted to set it back to factory settings ergo condition. SO now I am sitting here twidling my thumbs waiting on it. ITS almost done, I can't wait..I had 4.36 GB out of 128 GB hardly no room left on the drive. Plus, lot of errors in registry and security issues. It was just too much! But anyway if your looking for this solution I have it!

I would love to know how you got it back to the factory setting. I tried doing that to my dell desktop some while ago, but it didn't work. I happy it worked for you. Congrats.

Hey I went to ehow "How to Reset a Dell desktop computer back to factory settings" I found directions but it won't let me copy and paste here. Do you have all the software that you need? For after the restore is completed? If you don't care just skip the backup your pc thing. I don't get that part anyway if its giving me problems to need to restore it..why backup your problem?..lol

Thanks, I'll do that. I just have to wait until Monday, my kids play on it on the weekend. The last time when I tried I deleted everything I didn't want, except for my pictures (which forced me to back them up which was a good thing, one of those things I always said I'll do later). Then I followed the directions that dell told me to do and it did nothing. So I will definitely have to check out the directions on ehow. Thanks again. Again, hope your reset went well. :)
