Are you a witch? Do you follow a path? If so, which one, I'm curious:)

Hi everyone! Hope everybody had a bright day:) I am new in myLot and here I am, starting my first discussion...YAY! Lol
Well, I am going to be brief: I truly believe that each person has his own thoughts of acting and living, and has his own beliefs, which I respect perfectly. When it comes to Witchcraft, however, I am curious to know what paths are taken by others...
For myself, I have been practicing Witchcraft for more than 15 years now (I've started at an young age) but I consider myself as a Wiccan only since I'm 17 (I am 25 years old now).
So what about you myLotters? Have you started practicing Witchcraft before following a path, if you are following any? Or have you followed this particular path before using Witchcraft? Tell me your story:)

I've got a hereditary path.
it's a very folk magic based one, rather than deity based.
the Gods exist, but are separate to the practice of Magic, in my book.
I'm nearly 30, and was raised as a Witch, by Witches, and have at least 4 generations before me (known generations). only one of the known generations isn't still with us.
all living generations in my female line are Witches, and one before that. known that is. it probably goes further, but its arrogance to call an ancestor a Witch without knowing if they'd have used that terminology themselves.
before I started school I knew what I was.
being raised by Witches (my Mum, Aunt and Uncle (their brother rather than aunts husband) all lived in the same house, and myself and my cousin were raised in that environment.
our Uncle would teach us all manner of mythologies, and my Mum and Aunt would teach us spells as and when the need arose. early on we were taught to raise and shape energy, and I remember us playing catch with balls of light we drew from the ground ourselves.
I don't think Witchcraft comes from learning. it comes from your bones.
I am a Witch in blood and bone.

I'm impressed! You have got the chance to grew in a environment that has permitted you to uses Witchcraft and have learned from your family ancestors. I have always wanted to got that chance...
Unfortunately, as my family is all catholics, and although the women of my mother's side have all powers, they have never used them because they are so extremely religious...And Catholicism and Witchcraft is not a good combo, in their terms, as you may know. That's why I had to improve my Craft alone and I don't think it makes me less a Witch than an other :)
Thanks for sharing!

I started out in Wicca but ventured away after a couple of years
I still hold many of the Wiccan ways but dont claim Wicca
I am a Witch that follows a more Egyptian path
before I got into to Wicca I was a laveyan Satanist
I was raised methodist but never felt right, thats why I started exploring other paths

I follow my own, nicely solitary path.... I was raised Christian... baptised as a baby, baptised Free Methodist when I was 14... had planned to attend bible college and join up doing missionary work after college. But for some reason.. it never felt right. I come to realize that one doesn't need religion and faith to excercise common sense and good values and later discovered where I feel I was truly meant to be since the beginning..

Hi Eterna
I've been a witch for about 20 or so years, for the most part a Celtic discipline -- but eclectic describes me best. I am an autodidact, and think of learning as my divine duty. I constantly add to what's in the noggin, whether it be wiccan or otherwise, but usually with a bent towards history, archaeology, and language. I suppose if I had to say what path I'm following, it would be the path of the solitary sage, collecting knowledge.

I don't really follow any path. To begin with I don't call myself a witch. I am learning lots of things about witchcraft and Wicca. I was raised catholic but I never felt anything. Recently, I was asking family remembers and I found out that one of them was a witch-- my great aunt was a witch but the family never really liked the idea. My grandmother knows something but she considers herself catholic. Sometimes it feels like they are keeping secrets from you.

I was originally attracted to Wicca was I was thirteen...but have since migrated to my own eclectic brand of witchcraft and while I realize the term "pagan" is "loose" since my views on diety tend to lean slightly toward "universalist"., I'm still proud to call myself that.
I've never been much for established "paths", preferring to mix and match depending on what seems to be practical at the time, or what calls to me.

Hi Eterna. If you read my previous discussions here in Mylot... I've always been a Christian. Responded to a lot of Christian discussions.
However, I cannot deny that many instances in my life, I have been attracted to witchcraft. Many might contest me with how I reacted to this discussion... however, for the past years where I prayed really hard, I thought, none of my prayers were answered. I was hoping to go into a belief where I can atleast be confident that what I hope for was heard.
I am interested in learning wiccan practices, I just don't know where to start though.
