Would buying my own digital camera worth it though i won't often use it?

I am thinking to buy one either a brand new or a second hand one. But i feel that i don't go out and travel and don't go out with friends that much, it can be a waste. But for rare occasions i would have the chance to use a camera, i feel that i want to have my own to record or have a copy of that place or event. Would you think it will be still worth it if i get one. The one i am planning to buy is Canon A470. Actually i am deciding between this camera, ipod touch or ipod classic. I don't know which is more important and useful to me.

I couldn't live without my digital camera. I think cameras are a great thing to have. I carry mine around with me in my purse and can capture any moment that I want to! I would recommend checking out craigslist or ebay. I just recently sold mine DIRT CHEAP on craigslist. So I'm sure others are doing the same thing. Might be a great way to set something next to new and very cheap.

You may not regret buying a digital camera. Even though you may feel that you are not gong to use it much you may find it otherwise after you have already got one in your hands. Using a digital camera does not cost a lot. Pictures taken can be edited and deleted. This means that you can experiment with it to your heart's desires. Ordinary objects can be turned into photos of art. Unexpected events can be captured digitally and possibly sold to someone else. My son is using a Canon A470 and I can say that it is good and reliable. Smaller cameras may not be as robust. I had a slim camera once. The screen broke. Do include the purchase of rechargeable batteries and a recharger in your budget if you have not done so. all the best, rosdimy

For best performance use alkaline or lithium batteries. In the long run lithium rechargeable batteries are better because the actual cost would be lower. Get one with a rating of at least 1600mA. If possible get 4 of them because you will always have a spare. Manufacturers sell rechargers with 2 or 4 batteries.

yes i think that rechargeable batteries are much battery. but it is quite expensive too to invest on those rechargeable batteries and also the chargers but it is still a good buy.

Canon is a good brand. The camera you chose seems to be more than adequate for a point and shoot camera. You also might want to consider a camera phone. The newer one have good resolution. Not 7 mega pixels, but many have 5, which is more than enough. With a camera phone, you can send pictures to your friends at the touch of a button. Don't buy used. They break easy and it's not worth it to save a few dollars. I'm looking for a new camera. I have had 2 break already. I'm debating whether to get a cheep camera or a new camera phone. I'm considering the Blackberry 9000. Any ideas on that?

i am considering that too instead of buying a camera or digital. but camera phone is quite expensive though compared to canon A470 which is only about $150. but it is not easy to bring anywhere. cause i just wanted to put it inside my purse. so i am planning to buy camera instead. after reading one topic here i want to buy Sony Ericsson C905. seems a good phone. but quite expensive. i think it is more than $200 locally here. may be about $300. so i am still thinking it through. but i don't like though that digital cameras easily get drained of batteries. and cellphone usually last much longer and that is why i still have hesitation. i think that camera phone is better. but i have to save more money though. as of the moment i can't afford to buy camera phone.

I always carry a point-and-shoot digital camera inside my bag, especially since I became a mother. It's true that a person becomes a camera addict once there's a baby in the house. A camera also always comes in handy for that "Kodak moments", for example, you may just run into Angelina Jolie or Brad Pitt, wouldn't you be thankful that you had a camera with you when that happens? So, I would definitely advise you to get a digital camera yourself. I also suggest you get a brand new one so that you'll be assured of the quality. Good luck and happy camera-hunting!
