I have been feeling really frustrated of late.
From the series of events that is happening of late, I found my self very short tempered of late. SO much so that I am lashing out at the people around me.
Something that I feel sorry for. Yet I find it hard to apologize cos when I lashed out, I had my reasons that no one seem to be able to see as well.
So I was listening to some music thinking it will calm me. But the kind of music matters as well.
Initially, I was listening to some rap. It was nice to be able to just let the heavy beat and the story telling let lose some of the steam. But it didn't help much with the moods.
So I tried listening to some instrumental music.
And boy was it different. After listening to a few songs, I could actually think a little clearer.
I feel myself a little more calmed. And definitely feeling much better in the moods department.
Looking back at my own behavior, and reflecting on what was being said by the people around me who opposed my views, I have been pretty unreasonable to some extend as well. Some thing that I had not been able to see till I put on some instrumental music.
I sure hope I can apologize in time to the people around me.
Now thinking back, I feel so bad to have lashed out on them when they were actually showing me concern rather than opposing my views.
I will make it a point to atone for my behavior tonight.
How about you? Do you listen to music to calm your troubled mind?
What kind of music do you usually listen to to calm your moods and straighten out your thoughts?

There are many times I will find myself listening to music just to wind down, and sometimes to relax, and calm myself when going thru a rough time in my life. For me a lot of the time I find myself listening to Christian music. For me this is my lifeblood and I feel some of those songs have a way for me to relate too like nothing else can. I know this type of music is not for everyone, but for me, it is my good going for sure.

ya certainly I do agree with you that music has a positive effect on the mind and the body of a person. It can calm the mind and at the same time it can make one relax after a hectic schedule. But there are certain things that should be kept in the mind. The most important among those is the fact that music can evoke old memories. It is quite natural that people associate certain songs with certain phases of their lives and also they associate them with certain people. Those memories of these songs may be happy ones or they be sad ones. So when at a later part of their lives they listen to that song, then they may feel depressed and well at times tears may drop down the cheeks too. But des[ite all these thimgs music is an integral part of the lives.

yeah ,I totally agreed with your view. Each one will meet the tough time and feel frustrated of the reality.Maybe different individuals possess the various approaches to relieve and relax themsevels .But for me ,I regard the music as the efficient way for me to calm down.
As you mentioned in your disscussion, people who appeal to the music but not the same kind of music ,I really like the hip and pop, which is the accompany of the street dance .I am fond of the street dance so that I am crazy about the hip and pop .It has the strong beat and gives people the rhythm sensation .In addition ,it is full of the energy and I am a energetic person. Thus when I feel stressful and tied ,I will listen to this kind of music .It will work.

Yeah, music does really help in calming our mind when we are stressed or frustrated.. BUt it all depends on what kind of music for some might even prefer hard rock/metal when they are stressed.. haha =D
As for myself, i like instrumental music too because it's soothing and easy on the ears.. The more rowdy the music, the more frustrated i will get due to all the shouting and banging etc.. lol =D
However, there are times whereby i like techno or dance songs with fast tempo because i will feel like i'm working out, and that somehow clears out my bad mood too ^_^ haha

Hi Ahgong,
I am not sure if you understand the chinese work of your image, it sounds like a famous singer in China. His name is Guang Liang, same pronunciation, huh?
Your action excually reminds me my boss over the other room. He is so easy to lose his temper. He can be a very nice guy if he is in a good mood. But he can be a devil when he is grumpy. Drives you crazy.
Anyway, back to your topic, i actually like light music, light music can calm me down when i am in a bad mood.

I think that music has strong emotional effects... I don't know if anyone has actually scientifically proven it or not, but I know for a fact that 10 years ago I was going through a miscarriage and music kept me from killing myself.
Its weird but I like sad music when I'm sad. Knowing someone else has lived through the kind of pain I'm going through makes me some how feel better... Like I know I can survive it if they did.
