It's very hard to buy gifts for teenagers, espcially when they are not your childs..I recomment getting her a gift certificat .... maybe to the mall or seomthign like that..That way she can go and pick out what she likes and pay for it with the gift certificate as opposed to you buying her something that she may not really appreicate....I undertand that it's the thought that counts..but a 16 years old may not appreaciate it :)

i guess it really is very hard to guess on what one wants as a gift. besides there are a lot of etiquette involved with it. anyway, much is my fascination for gift giving that i always found the gift cheque almost always the one recommended. they can get what they really want for themselves and as this maybe a 16 year old's first gift cheque then they'd really think between want they want and what they need. at least if they would not yet think about it then if such disastrous is the outcome of this gift cheque decision making then you rest assured that you taught them a valuable lesson to think first about buying stuff .

I agree and find it difficult to get gift for teenagers especially if they are not you kids. If I will to get a present for a teenager which I don't really know then maybe I will get him/her a shopping voucher so he/she can use it to get what they want.

I agree with you that it is really difficult to buy a gift for teenager. If you often communicate with her, maybe you know what she exactly need. For me, Buying gift to my friend may be a bag or some useful things that she really need. I think you go to the boutique, maybe you can find the present which is suitable.
