I've taken on many home-projects. From installing flooring to complete outdoor yard landscaping. Between Lowe's or HOme Depot, it isn't much of a fuss. Both stores have a large inventory of supplies. I could believe that Home Depot tends to be less expensive in comparison to Lowe's with product price. Still, one store has some items the other does not. For example: when choosing a ceiling fan, both stores have a good variety of choice. And the prices are similar. So, there you have to consider what you want to spend versus what you desire to have. Where I live, the travel time is about the same to get to Home Depot as it is Lowes... they are just at the opposite ends of town and I will stop at the one I am closer to if I have a need for a specialty item and not blink about a cost factor - the difference is negligible really. Then,, I have to add :: Ace Hardware can beat both Lowe's and Home Depot where it comes to many hardware items. True, Ace generally is higher in price, but they DO have what the others do not in many instances. It is good to have a variety. Doesn't everyone say "don't spend all your money in one place"??? Share the wealth= shop all around and just get familiar with who has "what" in stock. then you get to know how to get the best deals.

I like the Depot, but it seems they switch places every month or so for me. Check ebay for 10% coupons...remembering that Lowes will honor HD coupons, and vice versa. They're good on purchases totaling $2000 or less, so you may want to get more than one coupon, and use them at different times/stores, etc.
Doing a lot of work on a home, 10% is worth a good chunk!
Good luck with it all! I'm sure it's worth the effort!
