Every countries have its rules when getting married. The requirement of some countries is that you need to show your passport if your are not from that countries, and a recent certified copy of your birth certificate along with a document from your home embassy that confirms you are eligible to marry. In most countries baptismal certificate will not be accepted as a form of identification. It does not in my country. Some are asked to present medical certificate showing blood test results, not all countries required that, but I think it is a good rule considering the many disease that faces us.

I really don't have an idea of what really are the documents needed in a wedding. I know that in most church weddings, marriage license, baptismal certificate, and birth certificates are needed when getting married if both catholic, if not a certificate from a priest or pastor of religion you are a member is also included as a requirement and for a foreigner, passport is required. It is my first time to hear that a medical certificate is required. Well I think it is okay to make sure that your blood types are compatible before having kids. I heard that if the blood of parents are not compatible, their kids usually are the ones suffering a lot.

So, far as documents required for those couple who were getting married were the following: a. family registry somewhat like a birth certificate b. capacity to get marry c. passport c. an authenticated "letter of intend" to get married while the bride-to-be will also secure the following: a. birth certificate b. any valid id (eg. passport, sss, etc.) c. certificate of singleness. and yes, you're right to say that different countries caters different protocol when it comes to this matter.

Well, if I recall correctly, the only identification we need to submit for registration of marriage is our birth certification. This cert shows where we are born, I think it should be enough. Double marriage is prohibited in my country, hence we need to sign that we are not married at that moment.
