Hi there friend. My girlfriend has 4 cats at her parents house: 3 males and one female.
The female is the youngest and very playful even indoors.
One of the males is very scared all the times, and except for the kitchen he doesn't dare enter in the house, and if you try to get close to him, he usually runs away.
The other 2 males are good friends but are different as well. One of them is larger, usually calm, and playful, he can't meow properly, but usually purrs when he wants food. The other one, is the baddest of the males, and knows to meow. If he is not in the mood to stay in your arms anymore and you don't let him leave, he will scratch you for sure.
This goes to show you that all 4 cats are very different.

My girlfriend and I often wonder the same thing. We have five cats and sometimes they'll just sit there ans stare at us or we'll see two of them just staring at each other. We are convinced the communicate telekinetically, so when they stare at each other, its as if they are just having a conversation, but when they stare at us, it really gets us wondering what they are thinking. Who knows what goes on in their tiny little heads? One thing is certain, they aren't dumb at all.
