Dear friend, There people who are really pathetic conditions and there are socities and trusts in our place to look after them but there beggars who just beg for money and could see that they spend for liquour or smoking for majority of it. Hence I would hardly give any to beggars but I would informt he charity organisations if I see any child or kid being treated vey badly in streets or just safe guard them from begging. But I never would like to encorage begging through givening money.

There should be no need for beggars and people who live on the street. Unfortunately society seems to be incapable to look after its poor, mentally ill and destitute. This is so sad. As human beings in a civilized society we fail in this obligation. To answer your general question though, I don't give money to beggars. I used to carry a business card of a shelter who takes in homeless people. That I handed out to them but now I have run out of these cards. I offer to buy them a coffee or tea in the winter and a bottle of warer in the summer. If they are lying on the sidewalk I insist they get up and I walk them to a shady place in the summer and a sheltered spot in the winter and tell them to wait until I get back with their drink. I usually buy them a roll or muffin or cup of soup also. If they don't get off the sidewalk and people have to step around them I do call the police.
