Sounds more like a case of over enforcement and gross misinterpretation of county ordinences rather than an outright attack on christianity, but it is still pretty rediculous nontheless. Apparently it is believed the incident stemmed from a complaint after someone's car was damaged from the tight parking situation created.
I dug the county zoning and use laws and found myself running in circles trying to understand them. No doubt the people charged with enforcing them don't understand them either.

This is the best answer you're likely to get for this silliness!

You tried to understand the zoning laws? I could have told you that was impossible. I swear some counties just make them up off the top of their heads, because few citizens can actually keep up with them.
I agree, though, it's more a problem with over-enforcement, but it still raises legitimate constitutional questions.

We have more crazy regulations than communist country China....
I think they have more freedom than we have in here....I am sick of government officials being paid with tax money on fake positions just to make one more ridiculous regulation with permit...

I think that is so ridiculous, people have been doing that in their homes for years, I know the church I grew up in still do that today, they have bible studies in different members homes. I don't know what we'll do if someday they tell us we can't do it anymore, we're supposed to be a free country. I just don't know what to say, I believe its only going to get worse and we better be ready for it, as our pastor says.

It's California, what do you expect? I understand zoning laws regarding the traffic, but a bible study is not a church. They don't function like a church and they don't do activities like a church. The study the bible, that's it. There should be no permit necessary for a person to study the bible with their friends in their own home.

There are countries which don't just require a permit, but ban the Bible and/or imprison people for having one. Some will execute.
We take our freedom for granted here.
Its not so long ago that certain groups were tarred and feathered, or imprisoned or expelled from school in the USA for sharing their beliefs.
So, a permit is pretty tame.
