Definitely Nokia is the brand that I always choose to have.
I just love their craftmanship. Their product looks sleek and
stylish.

Well I am a cellphone freak too and my favorite brand is also SE and nokia. Previously I used to use Nokia 6600 (not the supernova version) and loved the phone because its was a symbian OS. But because symbians are famous for their slow operations, I had to let it go and started using SE w810i which was java based. But then again, lack of software was a big problem for java based platforms. Now I am using Nokia N78 and the phone rocks. Though its symbian OS but since its kind of the new version (S60 v3.2), it's usable unlike the old ones.
Well buying a new set is completely depends on what you need from your cell phone. Like some people prefer camera and multimedia functions so they go for brands like SE, some needs cellphones for emailing, texting and business purpose so they go for Blackberry, some people need something that can do a bit of everything and is durable like nokia while others need style only and they go for phones like iPhone and Samsung. Every brand has its own BRANDED advantages and disadvantages also. That will require some googling and research.
Well if you want, as I said, a bit of everything, i suggest you go for Nokia N series. They are powerful and have almost everything. I would also suggest you to wait few more months as the cell phone companies are bound to have some surprising releases at the end of the year like Nokia N97 and few others from brands like HTC and Samsung.
In the end, which cell phone you want to buy depends purely on what you would want it to be.

You seem to be from India.
Well, if you are then the 3G technology is the latest one here.
So, whatever you buy just make sure it has the 3G features.
Secondly, buy a phone with a camera of 3MP + . Ensures better quality.
Also, Ericsson's battery really screws up unlike Nokia.
As you said, there are more applications available in market for Nokia phones.
Nokia N95 8GB, N78, N82 are the latest phones. I am using Nokia N95.
