By law they can not sell used undergarmets. GoodWill and Salvation Army both will purchase as a company from close out organizations to fill their racks. You are often getting new merchandise from these stores. While yes the majority of their inventory is used they do have a budget to buy. This budget is often used on seasonal, toys and things like undergarments if they are available from the closeout companies.
I know this from my previous life as a retail buyer and senior buyer from a company that would sell to good will, salvation army etc as a company we would go into the major manfacutres and purchase truck loads of over runs, canceled orders etc for pennies on the dollar and then turn around and sell them by the case.

Must just be your state. I shop at the Salvation Army quite often, and it's always used stuff, some of it is junk because of stains or holes, but some is usable. They also sell underwear. My friend used to shop there weekly and donate older things weekly. She'd often see her own donated clothes whenever she came back to shop.
The only thing they can't sell by law is child car seats.

No the national law is you can not resale bathing suits, or undergarments for safety reasons. Just like you can not return them. If your store is doing it then they are not obeying the laws and I had the corporate offices buying from me not individual stores. This was pre kids, it was my career.

Hello my friend deedeehall Ji,
I think it is un-healthy and un-ethinic practice. Normally in my family, no one uses
such under-garments, even we have our own towels. This should be totally dis-couraged.
May god bless You and have a great time.

Oh my god no! Definitely not knickers! I think bras and vests are ok though. Did you get his from the Mary Portas programme that was on the other night? It was shocking seeing the kind of rubbish some people donate. There were dirty knickers, coats so old they had hardened up, manky old joggy bottoms, bras that were brown/grey with age. Don't know how people expect them to sell it on!

I have never and will never buy used underwear! But, there are people out there who are so broke they have no choice. I mean a decent bra at Walmart these days is $10. What if you only own 1 and the strap brakes, and you don't have $10 for another?
Someone might say that so long as you wash it, it's perfectly good to use again.
Like I said, it's not my thing. I throw away my underwear instead of giving it away. I buy all my underwear new.
Except, I do have to admit, my younger boys have shared underwear. I saved my son's underwear to pass on to his younger brother, and right now I'm putting away my 3 year old's underwear that he's outgrown and saving it for the baby. But they're little boys, and they're brothers. I will wear my hubby's boxers as pajamas, but I don't want to wear a strangers undies!

Second hand shops in England sell good used underwear. As long as it is clean and descent i don't see why not.Dirty horrible stuff is not on sale, but plenty of people shop for everything in charity shops.Shoes.coats.top clothing ,nightwear and under wear.like I say as long as it it clean and in good order.

I think that is disgusting. You can't return underwear that you brought from the store how could Good Will sell used underwear. That is just totally gross to me and should not be allowed. Would people really buy such things?

Personally I agree that especially used Underwear is not a Good thing to resell, or even give away to anyone. Most of the time which discusts me, is that people will pay almost the price of New for these items as well. I think honestly this should be outlawed, and if people really need items like this, figure out ways to help them buy NEW instead.

It's not right to sell used underwear. It might contain germs from the old user or something and it's just plain disgusting.

i do believe that some germs can not be washed away.this is really some thing that should be looked in to .they will not let us eat from the same plate at a food establishment why would they let us share the same under wear?
