Work is an activity where one exerts strengths or perform something. Having a good job is one of the primary reason why we study, keep on learning, and moving on. It's a necessity to us to have work so we can sustain our daily living. This discussion aims to help new applicants to give them clues or tips on how to handle and answer possible questions that can be raised during interview while applying for a particular position on a job. It would be very nice and kind of us if we will share our experiences wither it is good, bad, funny, exciting, or fearful so that the new applicants will learn from us and will not do the same mistakes again. Here is one sample: WHAT CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE COMPANY? Possible answers here are your good traits in dealing with your problem particularly in work. Like you can work well under pressure. You may also mention here your strengths as human like you are independent, can work for long hours without feeling bored and tired. Most importantly tell them your skills, talents and other possible things you can do to help the company achieve their vision, mission and goal. You should know the company you are applying for a job.

Mine is a funny and rarely would happen. I get hired before I got interviewed. My boss don't really care about my resume or my experiences, he just need to know that I had a degree. And my interview was not formal, it was in his car because he was in a rush to go to meeting. Till now I work in his company.

WHen I applied for a job, I was asked by the interviewer, "How long are you gonna stay here in our company?" I answered, "6 months or if my performance is satisfactory, maybe I can stay here for more than 2 years, and I'll be one of the highest ranking officials in this company." He laughed so hard... I was too ambitious.. haha!

In fact, and let me be cynical here, you should tell them whatever they want to hear. Yes, find out about the company, so that your answers correspond to what they are looking for. Whether you’re suited for the job, nobody, not even you, knows at the time of the interview. That’s something to be seen after three month, after you ‘learned the ropes’ and find your way around. Until then, you should do and say anything that gives the impression that you’re one of them. Who knows’you might WANT to quit after three month. So this whole interview process serves just one aim: get in. Later you can take a decision.

I respect your opinion. It is true that sometimes we ourselves do not know if our service will last long and what is important is to get in. It would really takes time before we realize that this is the company we are looking for.

The questions that i may share during applying for a work was: Why you choose us among others? Why there are other companies that do the same like us, but why you choose to apply here? And other one was, Why you choose this work not other kind of work?

I have hired a lot of people and what I looked for was honesty, good attitude, good work habits and because the jobs I hired for were all customer service, I wanted people, who were warm and thoughtful. Most lower paid first time jobs will involve company training so I wasn't to concerned about what they knew or how much schooling they had. Even if they were business graduates, they had to be retrained in how to do the jobs the way we wanted them done. I wanted people who had done some research on the company and knew what our purpose was. That way they showed that they were interested in our company, not just a job.

Thanks for that very wonderful tip. For sure, people who wanted to work in customer service learn a lot from this discussion. I agree with you in saying honesty, good attitude and good work habits are important for people who are working in customer service area since they are front liners, they first reflect the company of what kind of business firm it is.

Something I have come to learn when applying for jobs, especially for teenagers, is that persistence is important. Wherever it is you choose to seek employment, it is important to remember that you are not the only person who is attempting to get that job. Thus, asking the employer if they have received your resume, whether they are hiring, and continually asking for employment will surely place you in the eyes of a prospective employer; they will see you as a determined individual who truly seeks to work.

I used to do the hiring for my department and I always asked a question similar to the one you posted. The positions were in the area of academic technology in a college setting with several satellite locations so one of the traits I was looking for...aside from knowledge and skill...was whether or not someone would be a team player. Anything that had to do with being a team player, working well with others, working towards a common goal, determination to see a job through until it was completed...all said something important to me.
