Well I once lived with a family that had atleast five cats, if not seven. I can't remember all of their names or who they belonged to, so I may be mistaken, lol. I do not think that too many cats is a bad thing, but if you are allergic you might want to consider staying with only a few cats. Also you've got to consider the price of the food, and if you take the cat to the vet when it get sick, etc.

Yeah the vet is costly I know I have to get Gucci fixed first than my other cat has to go because he has a little rash on his tummy. Nothing major but it needs to be looked at for sure. Thanks friend and happy mylotting to you.

No Problem, Always Glad To Help. I actually remembered something once I read your comment to me, I think that some areas atleast have pet insurance that you can get for your pet. You could always check your vet's office to see if they do and what it costs.

Good news! The momma of the ferals in the bathroom is going to a horse farm today! She's spayed so no more kittens for her.

Hee, hee. You are funny. 30 is a lot of love to go around. I am so happy momma feral has a good home. You have a big heart for cats and that, in my book, gets you a ticket straight to heaven. (Not too soon though!) We cat lovers are sometimes faced with the disdain of others who do not understand our bond. It is they who are missing out on this special part of life. I think it is definitely important to spay and neuter but there is always one who gets away and gets pregnant, not of our own doing but may be due to the negligence of others. We then have to pick up the pieces, as responsible cat lovers, and take these babies in, just as one would do if there were a homeless human child running around on the streets. It is tempting to want these treasures for ourselves but more important if we can place them in good loving homes, the reward and sense of doing right is that much more fulfilled. I just call myself a cat lady and leave out the crazy part. I don't think we are crazy at all. We just have a different viewpoint on what is important in life and I think that is where our confidence in what we are doing to help nature gets its kudos.

That is a lot of cats! My goodness I could not have that many. I think 3 would be plenty for me. Now if I lived on a farm I could have that many but it would be hard to take care of them. Take care and happy mylotting to you as well.

Hi momtry, I have also have two cats but another cat won't make much difference and anyway why should you worry about what other people think, its your home your cats, so what is it to do with them in the first [place, you want another cat, go get one, after all you are helping the cats and looking after them, I admire you for it. I agree with Tamara and most of the other posts here. The basic thing is not to care what other people think unless it will bring harm to your cats or cause grief between you or any other family member or significant other living with you and the cats. To me, if one loves cats (and I do) you have to weigh the pros and cons. I used to take in any stray I found. It got to be that I had 20 cats. Now, taking care of 20 cats to me is the same as taking care of 2 cats. You have to feed, water and clean the litter box. I find that if one of my cats does not feel like cuddling, then there is always another who is ready for a kiss or two. Animals also help if you are lonely or depressed. They are known to be beneficial to the mental health of the elderly when the animals visit the nursing homes or even hospitals. When I met a friend who helped me place many of the litters of kittens I have rescued, I found that it was just as rewarding to find them good homes as it was to keep them for myself. I would love to do so but money and husband are my constraints. Now if money was no object, I would have an orphanage for cats and friends to help me take care of them. But since money is an object, the orphanage idea is on hold until I win the lottery (ha,ha). The basic things to consider have been mentioned. You need the desire, the financial means, the time to devote to attending to their needs, including socializing, and also the knowledge of how to care for them, especially if they get sick. In my opinion adding 1 more cat to a small family of 2 cats is not that big of a deal. However, remember the old adage 2's company, 3's a crowd? Just something to consider. Nevertheless, the big thing for you is your allergies. How do you manage with your 2 cats? Your allergy may be mild or you control it with medication but adding another cat may increase the potential for aggravating your allergy. If you feel you can deal with all these issues, then I feel if you are rescuing a homeless cat or kitten, you should do what your heart tells you to. By the way, since kitty litter is expensive and messy, I have switched to just using newspaper in the kitty box. As soon as it is soiled, I replace the paper, the box is clean in an instant, and it does not cost that much to buy newspaper. I double wrap the newspaper in plastic bags and dispose of it in the trash. This works for me. I think it helps the environment also. The idea may not work for everyone. I have to wash the bathroom floor more often but this potty box idea is certainly helpful if you have a multiple cat household.

I don't believe there is anything wrong with the amount of cats that you have right now. Adding one here and there for now might not be such a bad idea. I believe in moderation however. As long as you feel able to care for the animals in an appropriate fashion and clean their litter boxes then having cats is a good thing for you. I do wish you luck that you and the cats will have a good home and that everyone can be happy. So long as keeping animals does not infringe on others including neighbors or other family members then you could possible have harmony in your life. If you are too allergic however I would be careful with how many cats you are keeping. In my own opinion I am thinking that just keeping the two for now might be the better idea. But just my opinion. Take care.

I know the litter is gonna be a little bit of an issue. Well not really but I like to use that Tidy Cat and it is not cheap. I think I am gonna look online to see if I can find some coupons so I can save on some,

Cool I think 6 might be a lot but as long as I could take care of them I would do it. I would want them all fixed though. I do not like to do that but where I live I must do that. Take care and thanks for sharing this info with me.

Hi momt2mit, the avatar you use here shows that you are a cat lover. I know as a cat lover she always likes to keep as much cats as she could. I love cat as well. I did keep 4 pet cats at the same time earlier. I haven’t kept any pet cat at the moment for I don’t have spare time to take care of them. I gave them to some friends who love cats as well few years back. I still could see them if I pay a visit to my friends. My neighbor has kept 5 pet cats and sometime they like to sleep under my car during daytime. I would like to play with them if I have free time. They look so cute and elegant. Since you are allergic to cat, I wonder how you could take care of them I think there might be someone to take care of it. Happy posting

I am an allergic cat lover too and I have had as many as 8 at one time. Now that is too many, at least for me. I don't think 3 is too many.

Three does seem like a lot of responabilty but I love them. I think I might wait for a little longer and see how it goes with our new kitten Gucci. I believe she is a girl and I need to get her fixed first before I add another to the mix. Thanks lumenmom for taking the time to respond to many of my discussions, happy mylotting as well to you.

Hello momtrying2makeit, I had 3 cats living in my house all at the same time. I would love to have another cat but I moved into an apartment so the rooms are smaller.I haven't had a cat or kittens for almost 10 years now. Everyone who knew me knew I had cats for most of my lifetime. They are good company and yet independant. I don't think I would have gone over having three cats living in the same house at the same time, but that's me..

I like the independant part a lot about cats too. The one thing I hate is cleaning the litter box. I will but I like to give that part to my boyfriend. Anyway thanks for your feedback and happy mylotting to u as well.

Hello. I would like to say this first, the only way you know you have to many cats is if you don't think you can pay for all of their vet bills if one or all of them gets sick. LOL. I am a cat lover myself I have 5 cats and everyone calls me the cat woman. LOL I love cats because their independent and you have to earn their respect. Considering you have allergies of the cats however many you will feel comfortable with. Their wonderful animals.

I know they are I also have a dog too and she gets along with them rather well too. At first she seemed to be upset about our new addtion Gucci but she seems to have become her best friend they sleep together and everything. Thanks for your feedback and happy mylotting as well.

I have 4 cats and get called a cat woman lol You can have as many cats as you want, as long as you can take care of them. When you are not able to take proper care of them; you have too many.

As long as you can keep up with all thier needs go for it. I only think of that when someone has a ton of cats and can't afford to keep up with them. As long as you can feed them, keep clean boxes (not a smelly house), and afford vet bills if needed then go for it. I do better with only 1 or 2, but we have limited space.

I have limited space as well but I guess I could have another one too. I want Gucci fixed first than maybe I will add one more. For now I think 2 cats and 1 dog is enough for me. Take care and thanks for taking the time to respond to my discussion, happymylotting as well.
