Does the Wi-fi reduces the overall internet bandwidth.

My question is does the wifi setup in our home through routers decreases our local internet speed or it is the same as coming by the directly connected LAN wire to our computer.

I have been using cables to connect my computers together because it costs so much to go wireless. The prices have gone down and I might consider using wi-fi when I have the money to get a connection to my home. Cheers!!

This depends on the speed of your current LAN connection. Your lan connetion might be either 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps, but typical wireless is up to 54 Mbps (Wireless-G), or up to 300 Mbps (Wireless-N). For the most part, if your internet speed is only 10 Mbps, you're not going to notice any difference. Check the speed of your wireless connection in your connection status in the taskbar, and your internet connection at www.speedtest.net , then compare them. The wireless speed and reliability also depends on the amount of wireless networks in your immediate area (

Yes it does. But it depends on how many computers connect to that particular computer / Wi-Fi router. Other factors include, Wi-Fi Router's features and settings (I have no experience with Routers, as I use a USB router instead), and its capacity to handle how many connections.

It is the same as directly connecting LAN wire but it does increase your bandwidth so it does slow down your computer if you use it.
