okay, so i might get a golden retriever (GR). and yes, it
has to be a GR because thats the only dog
my dad will get me as he loves GR's. however, i've only
owned/taken care of small dogs such as chihuahua's or
miniature pinchers or poodles.
do you have a golden retriever? do you have any tips or
facts about golden retrievers that can help me take care of mine?
anything i should look out for?
this would help me alot, thanks!

I have a Golden Retriver--she's about 8 and a half now. You defeniatly need to know what you're getting into! lol.
They are GREAT dogs ( it's no suprise your dad loves them )...but they can be a handful. They have a lot of energy--so be prepared to exercise with the dog a lot--or at least be able to take some time and throw a ball for it. They can become overweight fast, so they need plenty of exercise (plus, they LIKE it!)
When they're excited they SHOW it! lol. With my golden...she barks A LOT, shakes all over and gets this little "snarl" smile on her face lol. And she breathes about 100 times a minute when shes nervous :P
They are very lovable, friendly dogs...so you shouldn't worry about taking them out in public, they actually tend to like to visit people and other animals.
If I may be so bold as to recommend that you should consider getting an adult golden (2 years +) as opposed to a puppy, I defeniatly do! You don't have to go through the training and the "terrible twos" of dog world lol. But if you and your dad are up for all the training and stuff, go for it!
And I just have to say, I would also hint that you should get one from a shelter. Even if you want a purebred, they can be found at shelters!! 20 or 30% of dogs in shelters/rescues ARE purebreds, just gotta take the time to look around. If you get it from a breeder you risk the chance of getting a less healthy dog (it's true!) lol.
I don't know where you are from, so I couldn't search for you...but there is a great site you should look at if you want to find a specific Retriever...

Good luck! :) I hope I helped!

yes i have a 7 month old white golden retriever. now will you have him in the house or outside. when we got her she was 2 months old and we will put her outside when she will be older but now we have her in house. if you had small dogs then i believe you will have gr in house aswell. the only attention then is the walks take him for at least 2 walks a day . my dog starts barking when she needs to pee or poop so we know exactly so thats not a problem.
my personal opinion.
gr's are very great dogs very energetic and obedient all you must do if you will have one is talk to him/her a lot and it will start to understand every word like our does. you will have great time wit a gr and please post pics if you will get one.

oh and one more thing you need to watch how much food will you give to him becouse just like labs theese breed likes to eat a lot so you will need to measure how much food will you give to it so it wont eat too much. but now when she is seven months old she know how much food will she eat and its fine.
