And do you pay for it, if so, how much?
I download my music for free from Limewire. I've been using that service for at least 3 or 4 years now.
It's funny, because hubby always tells his customers not to use Limewire, it's notorious for viruses. But then he comes home and uses it himself. The trick is to know exactly what to download, and obviously avoid the p*rn. I've never had a problem with it.

I use torrents too.
I know it sounds more dangerous to download full albums, but really, it's not so bad.
Most of them are very safe, and you can see everything you're downloading. You even have the option to not download certain files. When using torrents, you can download movies, programs, music, just about everything. It's much better than limewire.
With that said, I still use limewire when I only need to download a song or too, but limewire really slows down my laptop.

My cousin had told me about limewire, but i was afraid of viruses. I had used a site called kazaa a few years ago and kept getting viruses. I would rather be safe than sorry because we don't have much in the way of virus protection on this computer. At least I don't think so but I'm not sure what came one it. I just use itunes since we all have ipods. I save up my points on different websites and use the points to by itunes giftcards. Occasionally I will pay for a song if I want it bad and can't wait till I get more gift cards lol.

I am an illegal downloader too. LOL. I use Limewire as well. We keep a pretty close monitor on virus protection and so far haven't gotten anything from it. I have heard stories of people getting viruses though. I know it's free but sometimes the songs really suck. It's frustrating sometimes finding a song in a good version on there. I used to use Kazaa years ago.

I occasionally have problems with the files downloaded from Limewire, like they won't play or whatever. Sometiems you have to go through 3 or 4 to get a good one. I had this one song that no matter how many versions I downloaded, I always got the same problem, it would break up towards the end! I ended up giving up!

I like using eMule. It's a bit slow sometimes with downloading, but it depends on the amount of sources. Vuze is a nice program too, but I prefer eMule for music, and Vuze for movies.
I think it's unnecessary to pay for music nowadays because you can find practically whatever you're looking for on the internet, free of charge.

I will still pay for movies because it's more comfortable to watch them in the living room, while sitting on my sofa, on a big screen instead of on a small monitor.

You definitely have a point, kats, but there are various ways you can watch downloaded movies on your TV or big screen. I personally download movies, and either watch them on my computer, which has an excellent wide screen with great resolution, or burn them onto a dvd-cd and watch them on TV through my dvd player, or I transfer the movie to my cell-phone, which came with a special wire that you can connect to any television set and watch movies, pics, or listen to music you have stored in your phone.

It all sounds so technical! LOL. I'm happy just paying a $20 a month fee to Blockbuster for unlimited rentals each month, including new releases. I have watch downloaded movies before, it's usually a toss up, sometimes it's good, sometimes the quality stinks!

I had Bearshare once. It gave me a lot of problems, and then it wouldn't uninstall istelf from my computer. I never could get rid of it, I ended up getting rid of the computer instead.

I've been trying to decide where to download music from. There are so many options. My boyfriend downloaded the iTunes to our computer, but I don't use (nor do I have) ipod capability. I was suggested to try FROSTWIRE.COM It is suppose to be a sister site to limewire. I haven't tried it, but I hear it's totally free, not too slow and you have a ton of choices. I'd take some suggestions too, if you have any (anyone). Thx :) I will let you know what I think of FROSTWIRE as well.

I just download music from blogsites. There are lots of blogsites which hosts music downloads. It's easier to find it this way than to use Limewire. I think Limewire is so corrupted now. Sometimes you are given the wrong music but the filename is correct. Sometimes a virus is being distributed using the filename. I think you can differentiate the genuine file from a virus thru it's file size.

I use limewire to download music.
but may I also suggest that we're on the downloading topic.
Did you guys know that people will pay you money to download albums or complete discographies of bands and put them in a .rar or .zip file for them?
This one kid pays me 10 bucks to download a bands discography like every other day and it takes me 20 minutes, so easy and fun.
Ya though, limewire is bad for p*rn rofl!

I like to download my songs from Soulseek because it has huge collections of old and new songs. The Soulseek program is also light and fast. Plus we can chat with friends too there.
