recently here on MyLot I had someone send me a friend request. So of course the first thing I did was to check his/her profile. I noticed many friends were on his page but there was not one discussion he started not was there one reply that he posted. So I ask myself . .
1-Why would I want to make him a friend of mine ? i didnt .. and as a fellow and well distinguished Mylotter real friend of mine advised me to do . let him hang . in other words do not do anything....
2- What were all those other people thinking when they actually took a second to click "accept" . .are they so hard up that they will take anyone for a friend here or anywhere?
3-Why didnt those people mentioned above take another second to see that this person isnt serious about being here . .maybe neither are they . ..
Thoughts anyone wants to share?

You are very much right, before accepting anyone as our friend, it is better to check his/her profile. If his/her profile is patchy or does not say lot about him/her, it is better to 'ignore' the person. Non-active members or members with some ulterior motives do not help brighten up this platform. They just send requests mindlessly and just want an addition. They do not appear to me serious in participating in some quality discussions. If you denies the request of such person(s), you took the right decision.

That sounds the same to me. I received friend request yesterday and i visit the profile i want to comment but i cna not because i have to be his friend before i can leave. Yes i admit i did not think twice but i accept the friend request without thinking much why so many friends but haven't started anything in the weeks being here.
When i accepted the request i leave a comment asking why no discussion yet but many friend. I received then a message asking me to read the blog and sign up under the name of this person to exchange that will sign up too to mine as my referral. ]
I do visit the site but i did not sign up... I just ignore the person now, its only once that i received a message.
This is spamming. Now i know it.. Thanks for that saw2207.

My friend, you have a secret admirer in mylot!. It is quite common for a newbies to receive friend request here from some members even though he has several hundred to thousand of friends in the list, fortunately ,you get to decide whether you want that friendship or not in Mylot...not the others.

I don't have a lot of Mylotting friends yet. I'm the suspicious type though and I got one of those types of requests. This person has lots of friends but not a single post or discussion. I always check friend request profiles and even go so far as to see the sort of things they talk about. I don't really feel comfortable collecting friends that I don't know anything about. On the bright side the term friend still means something to me.

Im with you Philbo . .and my compliments to you on your reply. I guess I too am suspicious . .and take the same path as you . .I definately like to see what they like to talk about and that way when I am around here it is a good place to start . to see what is interesting . .at least interesting for me. So far my gut has been right and the people that I have made friends with have been inspiring, helpful and quite amusing. And yes to me friend still means something to me!
Thanks again for sharing!
Happy Lotting to you!

I made a discussion last week on this very same thing...probably the same person. These people are probably here only to spam you...not sure. either way...I don't delete them because I here they just come back and request again and I definitly don't accept them. You are smart to think twice about accepting a friendship from this person.

Good morning sid556 . .. you know what they say . .GMTA!
thanks for for post, I think more people need to be aware of spammers .. too many good people on this platform that dont need to be wasting time with people who just want to gain for themselves!
Happy Lotting to you!

Hi Saw, I think the same person that sent you a friend request is trying to get on my friends list now. I thought it was strange that this mylot user has a lot of friends, but yet has never created one single discussion nor has he ever replied to any discussions. After I denied the first friend request yesterday they sent me another one a few hrs ago and I'm thinking " How did you know I denied your request?" This is a strange one. I usually approve most people if they show some type of activity here on mylot, but not this one. I've been here at mylot for 2 years and I have never had a friend request that has "0" activity at this site.Weird.

I'll have to send you a friend request in order for me and you to exchange PM's. Mylot has it set up to where only friends can PM each other. Yes, I'd like to know what you have to say about this matter in PM..

cassandralynn ..
i pm;ed you back . .not sure where my orginal pm went cause i responded to you as soon as I got your message
i think maybe when i hit submit and that add a tag thing came and I missed it .. so my orginal message probably got lost
so sorry . .do not want you to think I ignored this cause I do think it is important !

I have checked a few profiles before excepting them as friends. And some I have not. It is nice when people make an effort to answer discussions. Some people just add because they think it may be the "polite" thing to do.

Hiyah, i have also some of friends request from the people who don't have much participation here on mylot. But i do accept them wether they are trollz or not. If they were trollz then admit will get deleted them if they violate any rules and if somebody reported them.
Happy posting.

I am curious rainmark, if they dont have much participation why do you friend them back? Do you just automatically friend anyone that sends you a request or maybe have you had some sort of interaction with them on a previous post?
this place is too good to be infected with what you call .. trollz
happy posting to you as well!

Some of them, had a response to my previous discussions and recently when i am responding to someone's discussions and they found out im not on thier friends list yet, then they send me a request to be thier friends. About others who have a little participation here specially the newbie, i considered them coz maybe they don't have a time yet to do more posting here but in future they might be as active than as i am. Trollz? i never yet encountered trollz here in my discussion, coz i have new discussion started lolz, i love responding at the moment.
Happy posting.

That is one way to find out about getting friends. I too had them added in my friend's list before looking up at their profile. There is no harm in adding them, that is one way of knowing them.

hmm technoobs, that is one way of thinking . . but I guess I am skeptical because if you want to know them that is very commendable but if they are not taking part in any conversations do you really think that they want to know you. Seems to me that friendship is a 2 way street . .
everyone wants something .. and if they are just friending you with no participation what is it you think they want?

Woe thats strange, I'm not sure if I ever had someone like that requesting friendship and if I did, I probably wouldnt have noticed becuse I rarely ever check a members profile when it comes to excepting a friends request, I just accept though after viewing this post I might become more selective and start viewing profiles.

anyway nice to hear from you . . and thanks for your input . .
happy lotting to you :)

Hi alot of people might not get time to have a proper look to see the persons details or just do not mind who they except.Another reason is that maybe they are new to my lot and have not understood how to post or reply to a discussion. Then they could just be a person where as they send you just a pm with a referral link in the hope that you will help then getting more referrals.Happy mylotting.
