Just who has rights?

I sit and think sometimes how narrow minded we all can be. How we expect respect from all when we voice our opinions on matters yet we do not give another who disagrees with us that same respect. I have always tried to respect others views; even if they differ from my own but am I guilty of not doing this from time to time? I sure am. So, just who has rights? The answer is really simple; everyone. You have the right to practice whatever religion you believe in. You also have the right to disagree with the practices of a religion but this should be done without bashing, name calling and hatred. You have the right to be gay. You also have the right to disagree with this lifestyle without bashing, name calling or hatred. You have the right to whichever political party you chose to associate yourselves to. You have the right to disagree with a political party without bashing, name calling and hatred. These are just a few of the "hot topics". We need to remember that with all these wonderful rights come responsibility. The responsibility to honor and allow others to have these rights as well. The next time you are on a rant about these rights and before you decided to jump in head first with bashing, name calling and hatred, remember that other folks have the very same rights that you have. Would you like for someone to bash your beliefs?

Uh - Widdle Tormy does a better job at making wide discussions. When she does it, i need to actually scroll back & forth, but in this case, I have the scroll bar at the bottom of my browser window, but i don't need to scroll sideways to read the discussion or responses.

The sooner everyone realizes that I am right and anyone who disagrees with me is wrong, the better off we'll all be.
Would I like for someone to bash me for my beliefs? It happens ALL THE TIME, especially here at mylot! (Note to the ignorant: a person is not necessarily a racist just because they don't approve of 0bama, there are so many things to disapprove of from him, his color has NOTHING to do with it! Also, you are NOT a racist if you oppose jihad - islam is not a race, first of all, and secondly, murder for jihad is NOT ok - EVER!)

There are so many VALID insults and accusations people could hurl at me, they should never even ever feel the need to lie and call me racist, when there are so many negative things they an call me that I actually am!

There are tactful ways to disagree.
Quite often, some just say what they want to say. Was it put that way intentionally to start a flame war? Or was it that they just don't know how to be tactful? There are some who lack that ability - not to put them down, but it's pretty much sort of like a handicap they might have.
I've seen it. I'm sure you have, too. Someone starts a discussion about something, & then you get that oddball "YOU IDIOT!" response, &/or a response that makes you want to leave "YOU IDIOT!" as a comment. Then that person &/or their friends start going through that person's discussions & start to give 'em a taste of their own medicine. Quite often, when the smoke clears, they do find themselves friends after that.
I wonder if we have the rights to hijack a discussion, & using the comments, just turn the discussion into a discussion about something entirely different ...

As you are aware my crazy friend... you may hijack my discussions and me when ever the mood strikes ya (unless I am "busy" with MKYL or DJ)! You are right in your response... these are very heated topics and I just think we all need to take a second and think about how the other one feels. Tolerance, in any religion, means the same.
