How can you handle colleagues backbiting you?

I have a friend confided to me and she is worried because bad rumors about her are circulating all over our workplace. I told her not to mind those people but on the other hand, i thought it is difficult to do. how about you? how are you going to help a friend who feels like everybody is judging her.=(

I guess you just have to be a supportive friend and not join in that backbiting. Point out to her that, in most workplaces, most people will have unkind things said about them behind their backs at some point. Next week it will probably be someone else's turn. What really matters is what her true friends think of her and, people who would backbite that way are not true friends.
