So, we got the tickets... just need to decide on where to stay. There are so many choices, and it is a little overwhelming. What hotels on the strip have you stayed at? What where the positives/negatives about them?

When we went we stayed at Bally's and I have few complaints about it. The restaurant choice wasn't the greatest but there are so many choices all around you that isn't really a big deal. It was also very affordable and is located right in the middle of the strip. There is a place beside it called Wild Bill's and I think if we go again we would stay there. It's really cheap and right in the middle as well. We found that for the amount of time you're actually in your room who cares about what it looks like! The Luxor is really cool, I read that you chose that one. It is located on the far end of the strip, that would be the only negative point. If you have a chance see the Body Works exhibit if it's still there, it's very interesting.

I guess some of it was that we were wanting to get a room in the same place where something we were interested in seeing/doing was. Being at the end of the strip has a lot of disadvantages, but it seemed better to be at that end rather than at the Stratosphere, where it would of been a further journey. I know we wont spend much time in a room, but I always thought Vegas had a lot of wild themes for hotels, and that sounded intriguing. The hotel room is already a lot less expensive then imagined, we have stayed in some horrible places and paid a lot more. And those hotels didn't have a bright light that can be seen in outer space! The body exhibit there sealed the deal!

I guess the stratosphere just sounded like a lot of fun with the rides and such. Plus, it seems that end of the strip is less populated.

That end is definitely better than the Stratosphere end. You will be close to the more interesting theme hotels like New York New York and Excalibur. If you get a chance go see Tournament of Kings at Excalibur, it's really neat. The opposite end is quite dingy and a much farther walk to most things you will likely want to see than Luxor is.

I stayed at the Imperial Palace and then the second time at Harrahs. They are all great but the best thing is that you are not limited to enjoy just their extras. You can go into any casino and gamble or enjoy their themes. You can see the shows anywhere you want too. I think if I went back I would want to stay at the Mirage or the Venitian. Maybe the Bellagio or Alladin's...oh your right..there are alot of choices. Remember..you not limited to one..no matter where you stay at night..you are welcome at all of them anytime you want to go in.

We have been planning on dropping in at several of the others, just was lost trying to find a plce to stay. We ended up deciding on Luxor. The pyramid just seemed so inviting, plus with the light on top, we figure we will always be able to find our way back.

Something to remember is that in Las Vages there are two sections. The strip and old town. I have talked to several people who say they got better deals and better gambling in Old Town. Many of the hotels on the strip are being replaced with new luxury hotels. We stayed at the Frontier Hotel but that was being scheduled for demolition and being replaced with a new upscale motel. Ont other thing to keep in mind is transportation. Vegas has a very good bus system that you buy a ticket for 24 hours and it is unlimited rides. Going up and down the strip they run about every 5-10 minutes. We had the best experience at the Texas Road House Casino. They gave us free chips and we could play any slot machine instead of waiting for a "special one" to open up.

Great tip about the bus. Looking at the map I have, the strip seems a lot longer than imagined. Have been wondering how that aspect was going to go. I imagine it will be very hot there, and we will not want to walk the whole time. Our first day though, we are planning to tour most of the strip by foot!

Honestly they are all pretty much the same if you are paying a certain price for it. Just find a theme you like best and go with that! I like clowns and freaks so I like to stay at Circus Circus.

How is Circus Circus? I heard it was more children orientated, so I was not sure if it would be a great place for a solo couple.
