Why I don't need religion for being a happy and good person.

Every major religion has something in common. That is their understanding of morality. If you ask me, the main aspects the religions teach (by the way, I do believe that every religion is somehow a copycat of a prior religion) are moral issues such as respect eachother, don't kill each other, don't steal and so on. Now that sounds like the list of the 10 commandment, but it's spread everywhere. If you ask me, God (or whatever you call it) is simply a symbol for reason. Something to keep in the back of my head when I think about doing something wrong. The idea would keep me on the right track so I do not end in hell. Fear plays a big part here. So if I act reasonable without having to fear I end in hell or heaven forever (I wouldn't want to be in any place forever), would there be any difference? I believe not. Contrary to that, if there was no religion at all, people would probably stop killing each other over the question, which is the right God and care about important problems.
