What should I do about my college situation?

United States

I just finished up my freshman year at Ball State University. I had a VERY hard time adjusting and hated almost every minute of it. I told my parents that I did not want to go back, and with great hesitation, they told me I could move back home and attend school at IU in Kokomo, a thirty minute drive from my house. They told me to highly weigh my pros and cons of each school. My question is should I attend IUK or Ball State? A lot of people say that they HATED their first year of college too and it got much better after that. However, I am afraid that it won't. But at the same time, I'm afraid to move back home and regret my decision. What should I do?

i hear sometimes when you hate school your first year thats not the school for you. you should try something different and see if you like it. maybe its too big of a school for you or you dont like the location, or the people. it just depends on the type of person you are, and what you like. if you dont like it there then switch schools. find something you do like!

Life is not a fairy tale that you will get whatever you want. Learn to adjust to all situations. As you have already spent a year, now the time may change. To cope in a new place is always difficult. Now that you have already gone through that phase, you should not move to any other school and start from the beginning. Learn to face challenges and also try to overcome it. I know you can do it. I know, you can do it. ALL THE BEST

Main motivation in choosing the school factor is interest and talent, not as close to home or family. You must have priority. You can choose the second alternative, if constrained to choose a major.
