After so many years that my husband would love us to have a dog in our house, I finally agreed on having one. My kids were so happy when I said yes, they also wanted to have a dog pet but I just never permitted them. Our new baby will be 5 months on the 15th of this June. He is a cute dachshund. I never knew that I would love him a lot. He'd been like a real baby. He is so sweet and he makes my kids and hubby so happy.

If he makes you happy then of course he is a part of the family. My sister has the same type of dog (actually two of them) and they are her 'children'. Thanks Zelo

I used to have "rabbit miniature", long hair dachshund. She was so cute, I lost her when she was 10 years old. She is going to be in my heart forever....

congrats on getting a cute dog although i am not very fond of dogs. first i thought this is a discussion about a new born baby but i see you have got a new dog. it is nice to hear that it keeps your family happy because many times you see dogs in other peoples house an they create a lot of ruckus at home. all the best with the dog in the future as well. is dachshund a breed of dog?

I saw the picture on your profile... and your new baby is really so cute and lovable... so for sure that the whole family would fall in love with you dog in no time... it is like a new addition to the family... and for sure he will start acting more human than dog... good thing you agreed to have him in the family... that is like extending the love you have for your husband and children to someone who really deserves it...

Your dog is so cute Nhey. I bet you & your husband are so excited about being a parent's to a new pet! I love dachshund's, I use to have one when I was young and they are sweet. I would love to be able to have a dachshund or a dachshund chihuahua mix.But we plan on moving soon and Me and my hubby have decided to wait to get a dog after we have moved and settled in..

I too would love to have a dog. But as for the moment my wife does not want it since nobody can care for it well. I am always out of town due to my job, my wife also goes to here office. We have a child, he is still 5 years old and most likely would not be able to properly care for the dog. Well, maybe perhaps when the time comes, we will be having one. I am glad that you are happy with your newest family member. Dogs are surely a great pet to have.

I think when the right time comes I will definitely have a dog in our house. My wife do love dogs. Its just a matter of who will be taking care of it. She does not want to leave the dog being unattended and not being cared for. Best to you and your family always!

Reminds me of Moochie. lol! Well yeah pet do give joy to homes. Right now, our home won't be the same without Moochie walking around the house. We look forward to playing with him before the day ends. Moochie will be having a little brother come Saturday. Mom will bring home a Shih Tzu given by my aunt. I do hope Moochie and the new pup will get along pretty well. That will be double the trouble for me that's ok. lol!

You see you were denying yourselves the pleasure of a pet in the house. I feel like a home doesn't feel like home unless I have a pet of some kind. Fish, a cat something. Because our landlord requires a $600 pet deposit we won't be getting a dog any time soon , but I have a cat, the landlord doesn't know about him yet and he has been here for about 10 months now.I am glad that you are happy with your new pet. I am also glad that you chose a small dog over a large one, primarily because you have a young baby and sometimes bigger dogs can be a little rough and tumble for baby when he starts crawling and then walking. Smaller dogs are easier to care for, to wash, to clean up after. I think that you made a very good choice. dachunds are so energetic and sweet and very family oriented.

That is cool! I think Dachshund is a good breed and they look clean. Do they know how to take care of themselves? Like: no crap on the floor and such? Did you have it trained someway or did you train it yourself? The moms usually get attached to the pets a lot especially if they pets stay inside the house :P I guess it has something to do with actually being seen around the house and making the children/family members happy. Mothers like it when their loved ones are happy :D Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Hello oyenkai :) our dachshund isn't trained, but we're trying, although i really don't know how, but still i'm trying... my kids are really having fun with him. my son helps me when i bathe him. he stays outside the house, but i do let him stay inside so he would get used to be in here and not bite and ruin all the things he sees...

We have a dog too...As well as two cats and a bird! I love my animals they are such a joy to have around. They are a lot of work and expense but they are worth every penny and sweat! You will have years of fun with your new friend. The puppy stage I found somewhat difficult but we’ve had our dog for eleven years now and, although she is not as well trained as we would like (our own fault) she is still a joy. I suggest you take your puppy to dog training and keep it up, well worth it. Congratulations for the new addition to your family, daschhunds are gorgeous... enjoy him!

I absolutely agree that dog is the best friend of people. My wife and I both love dog. We often fantasize the scene about we walking peacefully with two dogs. But it's not a suitable time now. We have to be busy with our work. So I admire you very much. I believe your family will get more happiness from your newest member, especially your kids. Good luck.

Oh yes, dogs certainly are part of the family like another child in the house especially when they are puppies. They are so loyal - no matter what mood you are in, the dog will always give you a warm welcome and a wag of his tail. - Derek

I am so glad that you are able to have both a pet and baby in same house. I found that having a baby and my dog toomuch, he got very jealous and ripped my kitchen apart one day when I popped out. I was so upset.

Congratulations in your new addition to your family. I've no doubt your kids will love to have a dog around the house. Dogs are very lovable pets, especially if you get the friendly breeds. They can enhance the relationships in the home so much, and create so much joy, happiness and excitement just interacting with humans. I'd love to have a dog too but my mother-in-law who is staying with us in our apartment is scared of dogs in the house, so instead I have a dozen or so 'pet' cats downstairs around my apartment area. They are so lovable, and some of them are so close to me and my wife.

Hello Nhey16, Great to hear that you and your family are happy with the newest member in the family. I don't have a pet at home and don't intend to have any in a near future. My husband doesn't like pet animals and so do I. But my 2 1/2 year old son loves pet animals very much. Maybe I have to find one when he is big enough to take care of his own pet!

That's also what we have agreed, when my kids are responsible enough then that would be the time we would own a dog, and now they're both responsible, they take care of the dog and I'm just glad that they do. :)
