I have lots of writing and i love getting them critiqued. unfortunately, most people i know don't seem all that interested in doing this. they would rather tell me 'great job', which doesn't qualify as critiquing to me. So, would you like to critique extracts of my writings here?

May I suggest heading over to Scribophile.com instead? People here don't really have a lot of time for critiquing, whereas that site is made for it. And they're a bunch of total loonies - very friendly. I posted chapter one of my novel idea and got some wonderful feedback.
OK, so you have to give before you get (i,e, critique some stuff or post in forums and so on to build up Karma that's expended in posting your work), but it's a good place for conversation and bluntly honest response.

Well, they're amateurs as well (if you want professionals, try Authonomy.com which is run by a publishing house!). But they're very, very good and helpful - both from the side of grammar/punctuation/spelling and also the side of content/interest!

thanks a lot. i have been there. i used to be a part of which a website. i really did give, but didn't get anything in return. finally, i just gave up. how does one get other members attracted to their page? i think that is something i am quite awful at.

Hi there! I would really recommend that you DO NOT send ANY of your work to ANYONE that you do not personally know.
Perhaps I'm just mean when it comes to things like this, but one of my best friends plagerized my work years ago. It taught me that it is hard to trust people with your work, even if you think you know them.
Forgive me, everyone, but there are some real scumbags on the internat who will gleefully steal your work and pass it off as their own. It's ugly, but I've seen it happen to people.
Even people who would not steal your work might not take care of it as if it was their own, and inadvertantly give someone unscrupulous access to it.
Find a writing group in your city and join it. Get to know the people there, and find a couple friends who you connect with. If they seem to understand where you are trying to go with your writing, let them critique your word.
Be careful giving it to people you don't know well and trust, and certainly don't post it somewhere for the world to see. Unless of course, you don't care if someone steals it and claims they wrote it.

thanks a lot for that suggestion. i have just tried adding my blog here, but i'm just stuck something. the rules are pretty long, and may disqualify that blog i have existing now. which means i have to wait for four months before i can add a blog! aargh!

I wouldn't mind giving you some critique. But I certainly don't have any experience doing it, so I don't know how valuable my criticisms would be. I just feel like helping you because when you said how others just say "great job" I can totally relate. I used to make things for computer games as a hobby and when I showed them to people they'd just say "that looks cool" or something similarly meaningless. They were probably just afraid to criticise. But what people didn't really get is that I wanted criticism!
So yeah I'll try my best to critique your stuff if you want. Although the suggestion the guy made in 1 is probably best. A site dedicated to critiquing sounds ideal.
