Well, I am using Windows XP SP3 on my desktop and Windows Vista Ultimate on my laptop.
I need Windows Vista just to ensure safety from viruses and infiltrations. Windows Defender is an efficient blocker!

SP2 and SP3 differ in security levels, as they say! I haven't found any such differences personally.
And yes, Vista works perfectly without any other antivirus. It has Windows defender pre-installed and its better than even Kaspersky or ESET.

windows defender is just a anti-spyware . It is not an substitute for anti-virus. You need anti-virus on any operating system including vista. Anti-spyware cannot be a substitute for anti-virus. I think you should get a anti-virus software and should not rely on windows defender alone.

I use two operating systems . I have dual boot of windows xp professional sp3 and windows vista ultimate sp1. I mostly use xp for my day-to-day operations like using ms office , surfing internet as well as for playing games. I use vista sometimes. I like vista's feature of dreamscene as well as some other features. I also like it's look and feel.

ive got windows vista ultimate on a pc i built myself. a lot of people have had problems with vista, but for myself lets jsut say im loving it. i enjoy the functionality, and the awesome directx10 graphics i get from it, and i never get viruses. i dont use an antivirus software, i record music and do video editing as well. my computers not super top of the line, but lets jsut say it smashes on all the mac workstations ive had to deal with, and i can have more fun with it.

I use Windows Vista Ultimate in my desktop and Windows Vista Business Edition in my laptop. Both are 32 bit OS.
Well, the level of satisfaction, I would say, is - I am impressed. Vista does cause various problems but still I like its looks and the ease of use. I wouldn't (and also shouldn't) say it's the best OS but yet it is a great one.

well there's no more driver problems with now-a-days hardwares PLUS some old renowned good ones because already the vista drivers are available. If you are talking about all the error issues, it still exists. Hopefully the rest of them will be solved once SP2 is released. And regarding the requirement - if you want to run the vista basic, then a XP ready pc can be just fine. Well in the end, you do need to give it the resources for its marvelous outlook and GUI.
